With just one other episode between Ash's last win at a gym and this one, this marks the shortest gap between Ash winning a gym badge.
Ash's Pidgeotto uses Wing Attack for the first time.
First appearance of Misty's Starmie.
Ash receives the Cascade Badge.
This is the second badge Ash earned without really defeating the gym leader.
Ash: Butterfree, Pidgeotto
Misty: Staryu, Starmie
This is the first time that Brock flirts with a girl. This will go on for almost every episode that he is in for the rest of the show.
In this episode James' Rose is blue instead of red.
Daisy, Lily, and Violet say that Goldeen is the only Pokémon they had left and can't use it with only one attack unless it evolves, whilst all the others are at the Pokémon Center. What about Seel?
Ash: Misty, you're not gonna be a sore loser, are you?
Misty: I didn't lose anything. It was a draw!
Ash: Well, I'm the one who got the badge.
Misty: What?! You know you lost with Butterfree.
Ash: That was just round 1. I made a great comeback.
Misty: If Team Rocket hadn't busted in, I would've destroyed you!
Ash: You're lucky they showed up. You were about to lose!
Misty: Lose?! I was just getting started!
Ash: Oh, yeah?!
Misty: Oh, yeah!
Brock: Oh, brother!
Officer Jenny: You 2 look very suspicious to me.
Ash: Hey! You're that motorcycle officer from Viridian!
Officer Jenny: Huh? Ah! You must've met my sister-in-law! (firmly) If you know my sister-in-law, that means you probably had some dealings with the police in Viridian.
Ash: Well, I...
Officer Jenny: Now, maybe you just stopped to ask her for directions. Or maybe you found a wallet on the street and turned into her. (unleashes her handcuffs and starts to yell) or maybe you're a burglar who broke out of jail!
Ash: I've never been to jail!
Brock: Neither have I, ma'am!
Officer Jenny: That's what they all say.
Daisy: Misty you left here pretending you wanted to become a Pokémon Trainer because you couldn't compare with us, (Misty becomes angry) because we are much more talented and beautiful than you are.
James: The coast is clear.
Jessie: Nothing to fear.
Meowth: Nobody here.
Misty: (referring to Cerulean City) Ash, you don't want Pokemon from their. Trust me.
Ash: Why not?
Misty: Because they're all -
Ash: All what?
Misty: Very scary Ghost Pokémon that look like this (Misty makes a face), like monsters!
Ash: (laughs) Nice face, Misty!
Seel: (claps fins together) Seel! Seel! Seel!
Violet: Which side are you clapping for?
Misty: We got to protect the Pokémon!
Violet: Like, what about my hair?!
Misty: I'm the Fourth Sensational Sister!
Lily: There are only Three Sensational Sisters and one runt.
(Misty growls at Lily)
Misty: The only reason I came back was because he (points to Ash) wanted to come!
Daisy: Well he's totally not someone I choose for a boyfriend (Ash falls down) but your no prize yourself.
Misty: My boyfriend?! If I battle him, it'll prove I'm not a quitter, and I'm just as good a trainer as you three!
Daisy: Well, Misty, you're the only one of us with a Pokémon that can actually battle.
Misty: Okay, Ash, are you ready to rumble!?
Officer Jenny: Now I'm suspicious of my sister-in-law. She sure has weird taste in friends.
Misty: Oh, no! Staryu's in real pain!
Ash: It doesn't even have a face! How can you tell?
Misty: Because I'm sensitive to other's feelings!
Dexter: Staryu: the core of this water Pokémon shines in a rainbow of 7 colors, this core is valued by some as a type of jewelery.
Ash: Woah, leave it to a girl to show off her jewelery.
Misty: Quit stalling and lets get this show on the road!!
Sisters: Check out that hair, like who invited the party crashers
Ash: Are you saying that you don't want to battle Misty?
Ash: Well, I guess it's okay if you don't want to battle a friend.
Misty: Pikachu, you're Pika-pal!
Ash: Thanks a lot, Pikachu...
Ash: Come on! I challenge all of you!
Daisy: We don't feel like battling anymore.
Ash: What do you mean?
Violet: You see, we just got beaten three times by kids came from that nowhere place called Pallet Town.
Ash: (very depressed) Not again.
