  • I liked the idea of the episode, but I just don't think it was executed very well.

Okay, so the episode starts off with the gang taking a rest and having a rest. They play with their Pokemon and Bayleef tackles Ash, knocking him into the river. Now of course, Bayleef is only playing and she does not fully comprehend her new strength. Whilst Brock reasures that, Ash is still peeved. So when they're getting ready for lunch and Ash spots Bayleef approaching him, he almost automatically (and not considering any other view point) judges that she is going to tackle him again and scolds her. Then this is where I come to my first major problem with this episode; Whilst Ash scolding Bayleef about tackling and that he can't take her behaviour anymore is understandable, I still have to say that Ash was being very unnecessarily harsh on her, especially in saying that he wants her to go away and stay away. I probably would have got mad and scold her too, but I would have used SOME tact in my choice of words!

So Bayleef's feelings are hurt and she runs off, coming across an old lady who takes her in. So when Ash and co. discover that Bayleef is gone and (of course) Ash can't possibly fathome why Bayleef would ever want to run away, until Misty reminds him of how he scolded Bayleef earlier. And if him not understanding at first wasn't bad enough, guess what he says next? "I didn't mean it like that." Dude! What possible other way DID you mean it?! I mean, my God, Ash is completely Tactless! You'd think he would have stopped before or after he scolded her and think for one moment just how Bayleef was going to take that?!

So yeah, they find Bayleef who by all rights at first refuses to take Ash back; they have a clash with team rocket, they make up and blah, blah, blah! Overall, I don't think the episode's basic plot was bad, I just think it could have been done a lot better. Such as, giving Ash some better ground for scolding Bayleef like that or have him scold her a slightly less harshly. So I give this a 6/10.
  • great episode

Ash and co decide to take another day off, as they have had many adventures before. They release all their Pokémon of of their Poké Balls. When they are about to have luch, Bayleef sees Ash and immediately runs into him, as she is just so happy to see her trainer.
Bayleef accidently uses a Tackle and knocks Ash against a tree. Ash gets mad and shouts at Bayleef and that he can't take her behavior anymore. It's for the best she goes away and stays away! When returning to the dinner table, Bayleef cries a bit and decides to do as her trainer says, and runs away!
When they have finished eating, the gang decides to move forward again. When returning all of their Pokémon back, Ash notices Bayleef is gone. Misty and Brock remind him that he shouted at Bayleef and she must have taken off. Ash explains he didn't ment it that way and wants his Pokémon back!
They start a search and Pikachu catches Bayleefs scent. The gang finds a house, and there is Bayleef, playing in a garden! Ash rings the house, and a old woman opens the door. She explains to Ash she has found Bayleef, weak and hurt, near a river and took her in. Ash says it is his Pokémon and had a little fight and wants her back, and the old woman shows her good heart and tells Ash he can try to convince her, but she can't promise anything.
Ash goes into the garden, and talks to Bayleef and tells her he wants her back, but Bayleef simply ignores him! Then, Team Rocket attacks and takes in both Bayleef and Pikachu. Ash rescues his Pokémon of course and Bayleef sees in his trainer really wants her.
As happy as she is, she runs back into Ash, who now actually enjoys Bayleefs affection! The gang says goodbye to the old woman and Ash returns Bayleef into her Poké Ball and continue their journey.
  • Saw the episode in the Pokemon Master Marathon. Loved it.

Well basically Ash's Chikorita has just evolved into a Bayleef. It's really strong for it's size and doesn't realize it. So it keeps tackling Ash, and after he gets tired of it Ash tells Bayleef to go away and stay away. This hurts Bayleef's feelings, so it runs away and ends up getting carried away by a stream and ends up at an old lady's house. Bayleef is nursed back to health but when Ash comes to get it back Bayleef is stubborn. After an encounter with Team Rocket, Bayleef forgives Ash and rejoins the group also learning Body Slam. So it was a great episode Johto wow I haven't seen episodes from Johto for a long time!
  • I saw this episode today on the pokemon marathon. This is the first time I've seen bayleaf in the pokemon series, the only other time I saw it was in pokemon 4 ever.

Bayleaf was really cool in this episode, seeing team rocket in a new robot called a robo-bayleaf was ironic, cuz here ash is trying to apologize to bayleaf, and now he must save bayleaf from a machine built like her.

Ash and Bayleaf are the greatest duo I've seen in the 3 pokemon johto sagas, and it would've been better if bayleaf had a bigger role in pokemon 4 ever.

It was also surprising that bayleaf learned body slam at the end of the episode.
  • Bayleef trouble!

Just after it evolves into Bayleef, more trouble is caused. This time Bayleef runs away from Ash and scolds at him for nothing! What did he do? But Bayleef went way overboard and fell on a river which isn't a big problem as Ash will need to find a way to get Bayleef back. Seriously, I thought the jeaousy thing was getting old and was removed.
