The lock on the door in the steamboat cabin is not there when Spencer first breaks in.
In one shot during the steamboat chase, the cars are in hovercraft mode instead of hydrofoil.
The candy store's doorknob and hinges switch sides when Dan and Tess sneak in.
The "X" on the candy store's "closed" sign changes from black to red and back again.
When Dan spots the crook's abandoned cart, the closed "X" sign is in the candy store window even though the store is open (Dan goes inside in the next scene).
When Spencer lets go of the wheel, he flees through a closed door. (You may have to freeze-frame to catch this one.)
The spot where Wheels' grappling hook is attached to the side of the steamboat appears to shift between shots.
When Daisy asks about the Queen's Pageant, "How 'bout lettin' me in on it?", her mouth starts moving a good second before the words come out. (Ordinarily I don't nitpick lip-synch, but this one is really noticeable.)
The bulldozer normally wouldn't start accidentally like that, especially with no one turning on the ignition.
When Dan puts on his helmet during the parade, he is not wearing his jester's cap. However, the cap is on his head when he takes the helmet off later.
Dan probably would have been faster going after the crook on foot than on a unicycle.
When the kids first drive into town, the door on the Pole Position truck is missing.
Dan's clown makeup is missing in the closeup when he tells Kuma it's his first time riding the unicycle.
(Tess launches a rope from Wheels to rescue Dan.)
TESS: This is one time I don't mind giving you a straight line, Dan.
DAN: Aww! I name that the worst pun of the year! And here's your award. (He hands her the amulet.)
"This isn't 'The Fall Guy', Spencer! Give it a rest!" --Dan, cornering the crook on the steamboat.
"It's a glucose base combined with sodium chloride and emulsifiers." --Roadie's way of saying the necklace fragments are made of candy.
TESS: You get the crook down, and I'll go after the elephant!
DAN: You're the only person I know who can say something like that with a straight face!
(Wheels closes the doors and locks Daisy in:)
WHEELS: Safety is more important than fun, Daisy.
DAISY: Wheels! Sometimes you're just like a grown-up!
"Well, that's one burger that just got burned." --Dan, on the trapped clown's burger-car.
This episode was included on the "Road Fever" compilation tape by Karl-Lorimar / Kideo Video.
The parade balloon is Montgomery Moose from "The Get-Along Gang", another DIC animated series that ran the same season as Pole Position. Jean Chalopin, Marc Scott Zicree, and Bernard Deyries all worked on that show as well.
We get a brief glimpse of the kids' old house in this episode, but don't learn a whole lot more about their parents.
This episode's title comes from the Alfred Hitchcock film "To Catch a Thief".
Dan makes a reference to the TV series "The Fall Guy", which was also on the air at the time.
