Episode Summary

EDIT
At a vast and spooky mansion, Det. Stone hosts a costume "who-done-it" mystery (for the retired detectives fund charity), which the six Zeo Teens take part in. Prince Gasket begins to isolate and imprison each of the Rangers (thinking it part of the game), one by one, until only Kat remains, so that she and the pink-with-envy Archerina can duel in the forest. When the stakes are raised, and the Nuklifier monster is added to the mix, who can come to her aid?moreless

  • Good fun that doesn't entirely work.

    8.0
A few episodes this season have been hindered by the mismatch of an obligatory monster battle and a cool plot device. In this case the who-dunnit concept is one of the cooler set pieces to appear in the first 4 seasons of Power Rangers. Instead of properly fleshing out that scene however, the writers were doomed to follow the episode into whatever was necessary to include some Sentai stock footage of a battle with another forgettable monster.

Yes, the Pink vs Pink battle was cool, and the Sentai battle footage is of a higher quality at this time compared to the American footage, but the best choice is still what is best for the story. Having new footage filmed of Pink vs Pink in the mansion would have been the superior option here at the expense of the Sentai footage. Additionally, instead of having the cast wander off into a strange red light and get trapped in a cave, it would have been better to have them all argue with one another about who actually dunnit. To really focus on the single scene and concept.

Still, the Sentai battle is pretty good, and the pure awesome of the set piece is not lost on the misdirected focus. Everyone is having fun and the episode is very much worth watching.moreless
