Episode Summary

EDIT
In need of help with his music class assignment, Tommy seeks voice lessons from Tanya. Queen Machina casts a spell on the two Zeo Teens, which forces the pair to sing operatically everything they try to say. Meanwhile, Prince Gasket wants to assure his rightful place as ruler of the Machine Empire. He turns Det. Stone's "secret weapon", the Mechatipillar (a lure he's using to teach Bulk & Skull the investigative virtues of fishing), into a monster. While most of the Rangers are busy with that, Gasket launches a full scale invasion on Angel Grove!moreless

  • Entertaining, if ridiculous episode

    7.5
This episode is entertaining for sure, and well paced, but the ridiculousness factor doesn't work completely either. The whole operatic voice spell served no purpose at all except to be a gag. It was entertaining for sure, but also kind of got in the way because this episode chose to pull from some serious material.

The end is nearing, and so the final arc must begin. In terms of the pulled Sentai footage, the battles are fierce and portray Angel Grove under full attack from the Machines. This whole aspect continues to be especially ridiculous, although forgivable. I can't help but facepalm every time i hear someone say 'Oh no! They're attacking the abandoned warehouses!'

I suppose the singing sub-plot was written to match the Sentai footage where the Zords dance themselves to death, sooo.... that explains that. It just all happens amidst great destruction, and a particularly brutal shot of the red ranger smashing into a car windshield. It's high quality stuff, just very unsettled with the blatant humour.

Still, check it out if you're going to choose as many as 30 out of the 50 Zeo episodes to watch. It probably doesn't fit into the top 20 though.moreless
