A Power Rangers Community
Saturday 12:00 PM on Nickelodeon

Film studios were feeling very nostalgic Wednesday with the announcement of not one, but two big-screen reboots of beloved TV shows.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Will Ferrell and Anchorman director Adam McKay are currently working on a new Flintstones animated movie. The Campaign scribe Chris Henchy is writing the script for the project, based on the animated series that ran from 1960 to 1966. Most recently, two live-action Flintstones movies were released in the '90s. Family Guy's Seth MacFarlane unsuccessfully attempted to launch a TV series reboot two years ago.

But that's not all! TheWrap.com reports that Lionsgate plans to resurrect the Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers for a new live-action movie. Since launching as a TV show in 1993, the Power Rangers empire has expanded to comic books, video games, and even a 1995 feature film starring the original TV cast.

"Lionsgate is the perfect home for elevating our Power Rangers brand to the next level," Power Rangers creator Haim Saban said in a statement. "They have the vision, marketing prowess and incredible track record in launching breakthrough hits from The Hunger Games to Twilight and Divergent. In partnership with the Lionsgate team, we're confident that we will capture the world of the Power Rangers and translate it into a unique and memorable motion picture phenomenon with a legacy all its own."

Which of these two reboots are you most excited for? What other shows would you like to see rebooted for the big screen?

I never really cared for the Flintstones personally, and have zero interest in a revival/reboot.

If they're gunna do a power rangers movie, they should at least try and bring back some of the original MMPR characters/actors.. They could find some way to tie a couple of them into the story pretty easily I would think.

I am excited for both movies. I have been a fan of the Flintstones since it aired on Boomerang TV channel. I am a big fan of Power Rangers and I cant wait to see what Lionsgate will do.

No thank you?

Don't they do Sentai movies all the time in Japan? Oh yeah, they do...

So you want a watered down version (MMPR) for the English speaking world? Never could cotton to that. Pass...

Fun note on Rangers is that recalling years ago that a scandal involving one of the actors had him or her written off by being sent to a peace conference has led to great entertainment in joking anytime of learning that someone is doing a horrible job that that person is a candidate for a peace conference.

The Flintstones reboot creates feelings of dread; the perceived need to make things edgy creates fear of a secret gay S&M relationship between Fred and Barney and an equally covert lesbian relationship between Wilma and Betty.

Will we also be subjected to a financially strapped Fred breaking bad?

Is the Flintstone's movie a 'new' new movie or just a reannouncement of the 'old' new movie that had half the WWE roster included in the voice cast?

What exactly is the point of rebooting the original? Isn't the entire point of this show that they constantly reboot them with different people and themes every year?

It's not like there was a story there to be told or that those characters were anything all that particularly interesting...

I think both ideas, especially the Power Rangers, suck.

I disagree, I think the Flinstones movie is a more awful idea.

If this remake of MMPR does make it to production, they got to go dark and gritty. I'd love to see a ranger die. One of the reasons why I loved the original MMPR movie was because Zordon was killed off and the emotional weight of it carried throughout the movie.

Well, Lionsgate are the guys who did Saw... But I highly doubt they'll try to make a kids show into something that dark and gritty.

I (kinda) might be willing to watch a new Flintstones cartoon flick if I was high enough & if it took place after Pebbles & Bam Bam finished puberty.
back in the day, Pebbles got hot & Bam Bam was kinda like a stoner.

Past that, I couldn't give a flying eff about a Power Rangers flick any more than a flick that attempted to make the Teletubbies or Pokemon "edgy" for the masses.

I think the Flinstones movie you're looking for is the porn parody. (wink wink)

who needs porn parody when hot Pepples was a Saturday morning regular way back when & helped develop a lifelong weakness for redheads? :
Then again, Saturday mornings never really could live up to its full potential, huh? :P

Hmmm....
This is something for sure....

I myself is developing Mighty Morphin Power Rangers Version Story... It will be more mature as an adult version lifted away off the children contact... And also will be lifted out of this version story is the megazord battles... Instead the Power Rangers will grow themselves, such like at end of Power Rangers Zeo... And yes, the localion of Angel Grove will be main present majorly as the rangers city....

It will be based with the most population out thru the timeline history...
Like Mentor Zordon will choose the power rangers from 2 different planets instead of 1 planet.... To save the world from evil darkness forces from the Psycho Rangers, are actually the ahead villains out thru the galaxy...

Which that is Zedd is the Red Psycho Ranger, Rita is the Pink Psycho Ranger, Ivan Ooze is the Black Psycho Ranger, Scorpina is the Yellow Psycho Ranger, Goldar is the Blue Psycho Ranger and Mesogog is the Sliver Psycho Ranger

Like from Planet KO-35,
Where Zordon will choose Andros to be the Red Ranger, Karone will be the Yellow Ranger and Zhane will be the Blue Ranger

Like from Planet Earth,
Where Zordon will choose Tommy to be the White Ranger, Katherine will be the Pink Ranger and Adam will be the Black Ranger

Power Rangers? this could go either way. i just hope they put some credible story and do away with the monster suits trashing a children's playground. this could be a great reboot and a big franchise indeed.

I can't get excited about The Flintstones, but a Power Rangers movie could be awesome, all they have to do is avoid the 99% chance of screwing it up.
