  • Isn't it wonderful when people come together to overcome their differences?

An OK episode which uses sentai footage Willy Nilly and misses the point of the japanese episode which was that only children can see the monster (hence the footprints appearing in the sand in the cave scene at the end).

This special power of invisability is never explained and makes the monster somewhat confusing.

Anways the moral of the story is 'dont judge people because they're different' such as the deaf girl melissa. In the end she was the only one imune to the monsters powers.

Thats about it for this episode - oh except for a mildy amusing bit at the end where she teaches Billy to dance (in fast forward).moreless

Trivia, Notes, Quotes and Allusions

FILTER BY TYPE

  • TRIVIA (3)

    • The voice overs for the morphing sequence in this episode sound significantly different from the normal one. The Rangers call their Zord names in a quieter fashion instead of yelling.

    • The Rangers refer to the Power Sword as the Mega Sword when they summon it.

    • The Rangers refer to their Power Weapons by different names when forming the Power Blaster (although Jason was the only one to say the name of his weapon right):
      Power Axe: "Cosmic Cannon"
      Power Bow: "Battle Bow"
      Power Daggers: "Dino Daggers"
      Power Lance: "Mighty Mace"

  • QUOTES (4)

    • Power Rangers: (to the Gnarly Gnome) Strike 3! You're out!

    • Squatt: I'm so hungry, I could eat a bug. Hey! Not a bad idea!(Pulls a box out of his satchel, containing a large centipede) I was saving this for a special occasion, but, oh well! (Eats it)

    • Rita: Finster, oh Finster!
Finster: Yes, my Queen. I'm working on a marvellous monster that eats cars and smells like a fish.
Rita: Forget about that! Make me a musical monster that will mesmerize those pathetic Power Rangers and send them to their doom, like the Pied Piper, only meaner!
Finster: An excellent idea, my Queen. However, musical monsters aren't very reliable. Might I suggest a nice fire-breathing hedgehog instead?
Rita: NO!! Either get my monster, or i'll turn you into a Sippean slug!

    • Zack: My main brain, whassup?
Billy: Well, I'm intrigued by the rhythmic modulation, yet daunted by the coordinating movements of the appendages.
      Zack: Say what?
      Trini: He can't dance.
      Billy: Precisely.

  • NOTES (4)

  • ALLUSIONS (2)

    • Towards the end of the episode, Kimberly says that her friend Melissa is a "miracle worker". This could be an allusion to a play and movie with the same title that featured the early life of deaf/blind Helen Keller.

    • The title of this episode was taken from the 1968 hit song "Different Drum", sung by Linda Ronstadt and the Stone Poneys, and written by Michael Nesmith of The Monkees.
