Trini & Billy petition to save the Forest Spirit Statue from demolition. It supposedly protects the woods from nasty bug infestations. Rita swipes the statue and replaces it with a lookalike, which hides her Spidertron monster within. Zack brings his young Hip-Hop Kido class to the park to work out nearby, and all but the Black Ranger are put under a sleeping spell by Spidertron. Unfortunately for Zack, he's deathly afraid of bugs, spiders especially!moreless
Following the classic green with evil series, this episode and its predecessor are disappointing. A bright spot that the formula is not getting moldy. MMPR has a standard monster of the episode plot that sees the Rangers kill it with their super weapon at the end. It is clear in this episode that this formula is bendable. For example, the Megazord falls in this episode. Unfortunately, this exciting turn is almost immediately thrown away for a write in feeling appearance by the Green Ranger. Also, the statue, which is a focal point of the plot, is entirely forgotten. In fact, the plot blows. One of the weaker episodes that I will not remember next month. Check out Madam Woe instead.moreless
I named this episode adventurous because of the good ranger and zord action. I liked the use of the Dragonzord in Battle Mode in this one. I also liked the few scenes of Zack teaching his Hip Hop Kiddo students, they usually didn't mention that much in the MMPR series. This episode also had the lighter side of the Rangers, when Tommy put the rubber spider on Zack.
Zack: (sees the sleeping-powdered butterfiles go after him) Oh, man. Why'd it hafta be bugs?! If they catch me, it's gonna be Rip Van Winkle time!
(he runs off)Edit
Zack: (When first seeing the Spidertron) Aw yuck, a spider. I hate spiders!
