  • An awesome follow-up to part one. An all-or-nothing mission to retrieve the Power Coins, and a nice Zord battle at the end.

Part one left us with Goldar in control of the Power Coins and the Dragonzord, and the reappearance of Tommy the former Green Ranger.

Tommy is quickly transported to the Command Centre and agrees to do whatever he can to help. The Green Power Coin is, however, completely powerless and requires energy from Zordon himself if Tommy is to succeed. I particularly like how Tommy, recharged, teleports out of the Command Centre. The crackling energy fills the screen, as if he's overflowing with power that he had lost some time ago.

The dialogue between Goldar and Tommy is brilliant - one of my favourite scenes in fact. Tommy is ready for battle while Goldar is unimpressed: "empty threats from a powerless ranger!". This two-parter really reveals Goldar's disdain for the Rangers and their cause: "you've come for your precious Dragon Dagger and your PATHETIC Power Coins! HAH! Come and get them!"

The Rangers are forced to cheer Tommy on from the safety of the Command Centre as Tommy fights the Putties; he even briefly engages Goldar, with Goldar dominating him for the most part. Tommy can only last a few more minutes, and needs an extra boost from Zordon, unaware that Zordon is slipping away. I like the way Tommy screams as the energy flows through his Dragon shield.

Tommy manages to regain the Dragon Dagger and he commands the Zord to take on Goldar and Scorpina. The new "Go Green Ranger Go" debuts here, and there's a cool shot of the Zord walking towards the screen as explosions go off behind it.

Tommy retrieves the Power Coins, but is reduced to a coma after the shock from the forcefield surrouding them. The Rangers go into battle with the Dramole monster, who plays a relatively small part in the two episodes. Tommy arrives at the last moment; the forcefield somehow restoring his powers. They defeat the Dramole monstar in a cool Zord battle at the end; I like the "night" effect the monster creates when fighting them.

So their parents are back safe and sound, and the Rangers are once again a six person team. However, Tommy is NOT at full power, and the fading of his powers throughout the rest of the season and later in season 2 is well handled. But for now, he's back in action and its brilliant.moreless

Okay so here's the rundown. Jason and his friends were forced to surrender their powers to Goldar. With their parents sucked into another dimension, and with no Power Rangers, the world would be at stake. Then Zordon mentions about the dragon coin Tommy gave to Jason from the Green Candle episode. But the only thing IMO that puts it down is the fact unless Zordon is there to transfer his energy in order for Tommy to morph into the Green Ranger, it's dormant. ***SPOILER*** The thing I pointing out is mostly throughout the 1st season and into early season II is something happens to the Green Ranger. Whether it'd be some sort of sacrifice or if Tommy can't hold a battle against any of Rita's/Zedd's creations, something going to happen to him. Don't get me wrong, it's a decent storyline seeing as Tommy hardly showed up once siding along the Power Rangers, but I'd also bring in character development for other rangers. Other than that, what a way to end a two parter.moreless
