Gruumm orders Morgana to draw up some new monsters, and though each of the three are defeated, the toll is taken on the B-Squad in the form of exhaustion. Unbeknowst to them, Broodwing is waiting for this opportunity, and has three of his criminal associates prepared to strike the tired and weary Rangers! • The SWAT Flyers Are Totally Awesome.

    9.2
I Totally Liked The Design Of It. I Especially Liked The Megazord Formation, Forming The Megazord In The Sky, So Cool. Plus, The Ability To Carry The Giant Robots Into Space. I Was Impressed Even Further When I Found Out It Could Form Into A Giant Delta Enforcer, So Very Cool.
  • Great battles! Nice tension between Broodwing and Gruumm

    9.3
I thought this was a good way to come out of the 2 part S.W.A.T. episodes, but it wasn't as strong as those episodes were.

We get to see some excellent battles and a lot of tension building up between Gruumm and Broodwing and I believe Gruumm already knows that Broodwing is against him.

However, they did not touch base once on Piggy and the discs he gave to Gruumm and Broodwing that had SPD SWAT technology on them, so that was odd. We have no idea if they will ever be touched on again.

Still, this was a great episode and the tension is building. I now find the time to make sure I catch the new episodes to see what else happens next.

Trivia, Notes, Quotes and Allusions

FILTER BY TYPE

  • TRIVIA (9)

    • When firing the SWAT Megazord's Enforcer Mode, the footage switches from Sentai to original stuff. In it (with the Rangers pointing their guns upwards), the cockpits look drastically different, lacking the doghead badge emblems, and adding guard rails around their necks!

    • Syd once again uses "operating a robot without a license", despite how it's never charged against any criminal except when she's around. And he doesn't actually "operate" the robot. He hops in it, the Megazord punches it a few times, and it falls over, before she uses the Judgment Mode scanner.

    • Kat claims the three robots in Bridge's dream just decimated Alpha Five, yet the dialogue in the first scene of the episode, concerning Broodwing and the three aliens, gives no indication that he sold them their robots and soldiers recently. Instead, they act like they haven't seen Broodwing in a good many years. Also, we see the three aliens on Earth the entire episode, so "just decimated" isn't correct. Not to mention, two of the robots were previously seen, so Bridge should remember he's fought them before!

    • During the battle against the blob's robot, the Rangers are unusually silent, offering no banter or remarks until it's over.

    • Concerning his dream, Bridge says "they had our Zord on the ground", except it was the Megazord, which is a combination of Zords, not a Zord, singular.

    • Gruumm claims he lost three robots, but One-Eye was a just a giant monster.

    • Bridge's psychic dream shows the three robots attacking Delta Max Megazord at night. Clearly, this means his anticipating the aliens' location pushed the battle ahead to daytime, changing the way things would play out in the Rangers' favor. But since Kat wasn't seen working on the SWAT Flyers at all during the episode, and given the implication in the ep that they were already finished, there's no reason why they shouldn't have had the SWAT Megazord that night anyway.

    • As far as we see, Kat had the SWAT Flyers ready all day, but waited until the third robot fight to bother even informing the Rangers of them.

    • During the SWAT transformation sequence, the words Dekaranger and Deka Machine appear on the background repeatedly.

  • QUOTES (6)

    • Gruumm: (To Morgana, about the Blob Monster) I asked you to draw me a warrior, like I've never seen before. I've seen his type before; The type of warrior who loses to the Power Rangers!

    • Silverhead: I'd like to see those Rangers try to stop me now.
      Syd: If you insist!

    • Bridge: (To Genieka and his cronies) You are charged with purchasing and commanding three dangerous robots, and trespassing in my dreams!

    • Z: Wonder what time it is...Oh, yeah! Judgment time!

    • Bridge: Jack, do you think it's strange that I had a dream that we'd fight three robots and then we fight a robot the very next day?
      [Jack knocks on Bridge's head]
Jack: Hello! We're S.P.D. -- Fighting robots is what we do. We fight robots all the time. We might fight one later on today.

    • [Commander Cruger approaches Bridge, who is asleep in the Command Center.]
      Cruger: Cadet Carson? Bridge?
Bridge: (sleepily) Five more minutes, Sky.
Cruger: Alright...You just sleep as long as you want.
      Bridge: Thanks...
Jack: (under his breath) You've got to be kidding me.
Cruger: Cadet Carson, on your feet! Now!
[Bridge stumbles to his feet and assumes himself]
Commander Cruger: You think the Command Center is a place for you to take a nap?!
      Bridge: No, sir!
Commander Cruger: You think fighting two robots is tiring?
Bridge: No, sir. But five is.
Commander Cruger: And how is it you fought five and everyone else here fought two?
      Sky: Don't answer Bridge.
      Bridge: Dream fighting, sir.
      Syd, Z: He answered.

  • NOTES (14)

    • From this episode forth, the Orangeheads will use a new blade weapon that looks similar to PRTF's Chrono Saber.

    • In the toyline, the SWAT Megazord is known as the "Supreme" Megazord.

    • Chiaggo's robot is the same used by Bugglesworth in "Sam" (1) and (2), Delapoo's robot is the same used by Mysticon in "Zapped", the blob's robot is the same as used by Stench in "S.W.A.T. (1)", while Silverhead's robot is a red repaint of the blue robot from "Beginnings (2)".

    • This is the first time more than one Orangehead Krybot is used in the same battle.

    • Gineka's robot, aside from being the only previously unseen robot in this episode, is the first of Broodwing's giant robots to have the ability to transform.

    • The star system the three robots are said to have conquered is Alpha Five, apparently sharing the name of the robotic assistant to Zordon and the Rangers back in MMPR to PRT.

    • The opening credits get slightly revised, with footage of the various S.W.A.T. items.

    • Commander Cruger does not appear morphed in this episode. Sam does not appear in light form. Sam also vanishes mid-battle for the second episode in a row.

    • The blob creature Morgana draws to life, which is said to be one like the Rangers have never seen, really IS unlike any the Rangers have never seen. Namely, it marks the first time that ANY incarnation of PR has fought a monster that is non-corporeal.

    • Morgana creates monsters by drawing them into existence for the first time since she was Mora.

    • The SPD Delta Base can open up completely to release Zords without transforming to Crawler mode, or relying on a single exit point.

    • First appearance of Green Ranger's S.W.A.T. Mode powering up sequence.

    • Debut of the five S.W.A.T. Flyers, and their combination of the S.W.A.T. Megazord. The Megazord can transform into a gigantic Delta Enforcer powered by those of the Rangers. It is also capable of reaching Earth orbit, and possibly space travel. S.W.A.T. Megazord is only the third Megazord to have a non-humanoid alternate formation, the first being the original Megazord's Tank mode and Time Force Megazord's Jet mode.

    • Debuted on Toon Disney. ABC Family debut date: Saturday, September 3, 2005, at a special time of 8:30am E&P.
