  • Rita Repulsa Strikes Back...With a Vengence! :D

    10
Over the years, many Power Rangers have had to fight many different monsters created by many different villains, yet it's hard to forget the original wicked fiend that started it all. A wicked witch with majorly evil magic and a constant bad attitude, Rita Repulsa was the first evil menace the Power Rangers had to contest with! Even after being constantly defeated by the Rangers, and imprisoned in a Space Dumpster...TWICE!!!! Rita refused to give up plotting ways to destroy the Rangers! But this was her most brilliant, diabolical plan to date! After finishing her little space tour in her Dumpster, Rita landed back on the moon, and after being returned to full size by her still loyal Finster, Rita concocts a love potion to make a slumbering Lord Zedd fall madly in love with her, and Finster creates a special youth formula to give Rita new beauty in addition to her wicked brain! With the plan in place, Rita decides to marry Lord Zedd, in order to get back into power! Ordering Finster to corrupt the programming of Alpha V, the 'Evil' Alpha tricks the Power Rangers into morphing and then teleporting into the abandoned Angel Grove theater, which is actually a Power Vortex where they are cut off from accessing most of their weapons and powers! To make matters worse, Finster has recreated a bunch of Rita's most evil monsters in order to fight the Rangers in the most dangerous battle the Power Rangers have ever had to fight! This episode was a great way to bring Rita Repulsa back, and raise the stakes for which the Rangers had to fight in order to save the world! I really enjoyed this episode as a "Power Rangers" masterpiece! Enough said! ;)moreless

Trivia, Notes, Quotes and Allusions

FILTER BY TYPE

  • TRIVIA (3)

    • This also marks the first episode in which Finster is used in American Footage.

    • When the monsters first appear to fight the Rangers in the theatre, the Rangers try to summon their weapons. This fails, but they still had access to their Blade Blasters, and Tommy still had Saba, yet no effort was made to use them.

    • When Finster is showing Rita what monsters he is creating to battle the Rangers, he is creating Cyclops, Spidertron & several others; but none of these monsters would be used to battle the Rangers.

  • QUOTES (6)

    • Aisha: All I'm worried about is how we're going to get all these souvenirs home.
      Rocky: How about a tugboat?

    • Zordon: Stop this foolishnes at once, Alpha!
Alpha: No way, egghead! I'm just getting started fooling with you! (A moustache appears on Zordon's face)What a difference! You're a brand new head! Now lets see what a little color will do for you! (A flower ring appears around Zordon's head)
Zordon: This is no time for fun and games, Alpha. Get these flowers off me!
Alpha: How about a little hair? (Hair sprouts out of Zordon's head)
Zordon Obviously you've malfunctioned. You need help!
Alpha: Hmm, something is still missing...I know! How about some glasses! (Half-circle spectacles appear on Zordon's face)
Zordon: Alpha, you must reprogram yourself and get the Rangers back!
Alpha: And spoil the party? No way, Jose!

    • Zordon: Alpha, you know the theatre is a vortex. The Rangers' powers will not work there.
Alpha: Of course I know that! Know what else I know? Working for you is a real drag! In fact I quit! And while we're on the subject, how come none of this stupid discount equipment ever works, huh? (Kicks the console, which starts to smoke) Uh! See what I mean?

    • Zordon: Alpha, tell me what happened to you outside. Perhaps I can help.
Alpha: I don't need your help, baldie!

    • Rita: (after she's "De-Aged") Finster you've done it! I don't look a day over 11,000!

    • Rita(About to land): Here I come, moon! I hope I don't land on my head like I did last time! How do you steer this thing anyways?! (Crashes) Hoh-hoh-ho, my aching back! I really got to put some safety seats in this baby!

  • NOTES (4)

    • Aisha now sports braided extensions in her hair (except during stock footage shots).

    • Kimberly mentions her Uncle Steve (from "Foul Play in the Sky"). She also mentions that she has a brother.

    • Rita Repulsa returns to the regular cast with this episode (having last been seen in "White Light (2)"), with her American actress, Carla Perez, taking over the role permanently once she's "de-aged".

    • These three episodes were filmed in Australia at the same time the cast were shooting the MMPR Movie, due to production running long. All Command Center and Angel Grove scenes which feature the Ranger Teens use recycled footage and dubbing (which is why Aisha's hair keeps changing and why the Rangers' helmets are one second under their arms and the next beside the Command Center's computer boards). All villain-related and morphed Ranger stuff was shot in the US.
