Episode Summary

EDIT
Feeling betrayed and confused, the Ranger teens have a tough time coping with the notion that Alpha & Zordon are turning someone other than Tommy into their newest teammate. Eventually, they're summoned to the Command Center, where the White Ranger is revealed. Whether they like him or not, the White Ranger and his White Tigerzord are needed to take out Nimrod, and AC, & DC. The other Rangers, meanwhile, have to beat Zedd's Putties in a race to reach Rita's Dumpster before Bulk & Skull can open it!moreless

  • The return of a great American Hero.

In my opinion, Tommy could do no wrong. He was the

end all, be all in Power Rangers action! But when his powers drained completely, it broke my heart to think that Tommy was gone for good and I was never going to see him in action again. But when they revealed that a new White Ranger was being made, I hoped against all odds, that Tommy was the White Ranger. My prayers were answered, and it was so great that Tommy was made the leader. After all the hardships he suffered, he deserved it. This is one great show!moreless
  • the old green ranger becomes the white ranger

what an episode. when i first watched it i was really glad that they brought tommy back and didnt replace him with someone else. brilliant the we see rita this episode and loved wacthing bulk and skul trying to get her out of her dumpster using a really big can opener. it was good to see the rangers loyalty to tommy by wanting to know why he couldnt be the new ranger when they didnt know it was him. teh mega tigerzord looked mean and ready for business. one of the best ranger episodes by far. the only thing i didnt like was the new morphing sequence as tommy sounded like he couldnt be bothered to morph when he shouted tigerzord.moreless
  • \"Guess Who\'s Back\"->> Tommy!!! YAY!!! And he returns as the first and best White Ranger!!!!

    10
Oh My Gosh!!! I was so happy when I first saw this episode. Tommy is back... who wouldn\'t be happy, lol. I mean he was only the greatest Power Ranger of all time... In my Opinion. lOl! Well anyway I cracked up when Kimberly fainted when Tommy came out... you like totally knew that was going to happen. She wanted it to be Tommy so bad, lol. And then he goes and picks her head up, awww so cute!!!! They are such a cute couple, lOl! All in all Tommy has a blast with his new powers defeating the monster and has no fear of looseing his powers anytime soon.

My favorite thing about this episode is Tommy\'s unforgetable quote:

    \"Guess who\'s back?!\"moreless
  • Tommy equals the White Ranger

    10
Yes! Tommy is the White Ranger and boy was he awesome and he should be the White Ranger ever since he lost his powers of being the Green Ranger and he was awesome of being the Green Ranger. Also his Tigerzord looked cool too. His zord can transform into a warrior which is preety cool because one zord can turn into a warrior. I especially loved his sword that had a tiger as its handle. The handle of the tiger talked in this episode. At first I thought it was weird but then I realized it was its advisor or something. This one of my favorite episodes of the Power Rangers and I just love this episode especially. Ahhh, the good old times, just glad I watched this episode.moreless
  • Tommy becomes the White Ranger and he fights the Nimrod monster.

    10
This episode is great, I love it because Tommy becomes the White Ranger, and he uses his Tigerzord for the first time. I loved every minute of this episode. My favorite part is when Tommy gets in his Tigerzord and transforms into the Mega Tigerzord. I only wish that there was a cockpit for this zord. But this episode was still great.

Trivia, Notes, Quotes and Allusions

FILTER BY TYPE

  • TRIVIA (4)

    • Upon encountering the Putties, Kimberly said Lord Zedd must be looking for Rita too, however there was no indication (before or after the Putty fight) that Zedd even knew Rita was on Earth.

    • The Rangers were worried that Rita would blow their cover if released by Bulk and Skull, however Rita had never made any attempt to reveal their identities prior, why would she start now?

    • When White Ranger is landing, right before putting his feet on the ground, the shot of him from the front as he lands shows the Christmas tree lights on the Command Center wall as remaining in place, instead of moving with him. Meaning it was just White Ranger standing there while the camera motioned to make it appear as if he was being lowered.

    • Tommy, with his helmet off in the Command Center following his unveiling as the White Ranger, joins the team in the morphing sequence. But per the usual rules of the game, he'd be going "Back to Action", and would not need to have his morphing sequence shown, since he was ALREADY morphed!

  • QUOTES (7)

    • Zordon: Welcome, Power Rangers! This promises to be a momentous occasion. You are about to meet the newest member of your team. As you are aware, the Green Ranger's power was completely decimated by his last few battles. Alpha and I felt it was time to create an even more powerful Ranger to combat Lord Zedd and his diabolical evil. To that end, a candidate was selected, and a new Power Ranger was created. And now, my friends, I present to you...the White Ranger!

    • Tommy: (About his surprise party) Man, you guys are the best!
Jason: Yeah, well I think that your surprise was more of a surprise... than our surprise!

    • Tommy: (after revealing himself as White Ranger) Guess who's back?

    • Tommy: Hey, I thought you knew what you were doing!
      Saba: I do.
Tommy: Yeah? You sure could've fooled me.

    • Rita: (about Bulk and Skull) Oh, great. A human Squatt and Baboo!

    • Kimberly: But Zordon, how? I mean, I thought Tommy's powers were gone for good.
Alpha 5: Not Tommy's. The Green Ranger's powers were gone for good!
Zordon: That is correct. However, Tommy has proven himself to be worthy and true. His courage, strength, and honor allowed us to choose him to be the new White Ranger. This time, his powers have been created by the light of goodness and can never be taken away by the forces of evil.

    • Saba: I'm having difficulty getting through to the Red Ranger.
White Ranger: Jason, where are you? I need ya!

  • NOTES (10)

    • This episode marks the first time a Thunderzord arrives without it being shown transforming from its respective Dinozord.

    • Though they wouldn't appear in later episodes, Nimrod, AC & DC were to appear in the planned but unmade 3 parter "Zordon, I Shrunk The Rangers". They also appeared as bosses in the Sega Genesis game "Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: The Movie".

    • Debut of Tommy's new morphing sequence, where he shouts out "Tigerzord!" to become White Ranger. He's also wearing a white tank top, his body not covered by electricity, signifying a change to the morphing sequences, which will begin with "Goldar's Vice-Versa".

    • Zordon announces to Tommy that he is now the Leader of the Power Rangers, making him the first Ranger leader not to be a Red Ranger.

    • This is the first of only two times an altered version of "Go, Green Ranger, Go!", inserting "White Ranger" in place of Green, is heard on the show.

    • Tommy becomes the first Ranger to have had two entirely different powers and colors.

    • Also available in North America on the Power Rangers Power Playback - Classic Ranger Edition - "White Ranger" VHS.

    • Available in North America on the "Best Of Power Rangers: The Ultimate Rangers" DVD.

    • Debut of the White Tigerzord, the Mega Tigerzord combination, and the White Ranger's enchanted Saber, Saba.

    • Rita is sent back to her flying space dumpster, but later returns in "The Wedding (1)".
