  • I'm sorry, are these the teamups that we all came to know and love?

Wormhole: There's a hole in the plots!

What the hell just happened? Seriously, did Kalish have too many drinks while scribbling crap on the storyboard and also put sleeping pills in Jackie's cofee before submitting it? By far the worst teamups ever. Last year was just amazing and I expected more from this year. Alas, it failed, heck this puts the TF/LR one on the top.

The DT got shafted again and for what? "Let's use some sentai footage that we're never going to use ever again because we have excuses for them!

    Moreover, no-one-gets-inside. Nuff said.moreless
  • brought me back from some of the first power rangers

i've been a fan since i was younger. and it really brought back the original ideals of the season 1. I think that's why this was such a huge season for Jetix.

Great Job on a great season.

I'm happy to see John Tui back in the saddle with Mystic Force!

Emperor Gruumm is confronted by Omni to prepare for his arrival on Earth. Gruumm takes the Terror through a wormhole 21 years into the past. Kat alerts the Rangers of Gruumm's temporal trip into the wormhole. 2004 Reefside High - Conner, Ethan, Kira, and Trent witness a spaceship hovering over the school. Gruumm has arrived in his ship, the Terror to take over the Earth without interference from S.P.D. Commander Cruger sends Jack, Bridge, and Z on a mission to follow Gruumm through the wormhole. The Dino Rangers go into the woods in search of the Terror. Rather than finding the Terror, they are confronted by Zeltrax and the Tyrannodrones. Jack, Bridge, and Z travel into the wormhole in search of Gruumm. As the Dino Rangers fight Zeltrax, the Terror appears and beam him aboard. Gruumm insists that Zeltrax defeats the Power Rangers, and Zeltrax assures him that it would be his pleasure. Jack, Z, and Bridge reintroduce themselves and inform the Dino Rangers of Gruumm's plans. Meanwhile as the wormhole closes, the other S.P.D. Rangers prepare to join up with the others before the others are trapped in the past. Meanwhile, Tommy appears as the Black Ranger in a battle against Zeltrax. The Dino Rangers teamup with the S.P.D. Rangers to fight Zeltrax, Troobians, and their footsoldiers. Zeltrax leads an army of three monsters that created by Mora, all three levels of Krybots, and the Tyrannodrones.

Gruumm and Mora watch as the rest of the S.P.D. Rangers show up and his forces join together against all 12 Rangers. Tommy and Doggie meet for the first time and lead the Rangers against their oponents. Kira, Syd, and Z team up to display girl power. Sam and Trent work together using White Ranger power. Bridge, Ethan, and Sky display teamwork Green and Blue Ranger style. The Black Ranger and Shadow Ranger defeat Zeltrax just before he retreats. Jack and Conner both activate their Battlizers to take out Mora's creations. The Power Rangers assemble the Z-Rex Blaster and the Canine Cannon to finish off the footsoldiers. Power Rangers - Defenders of Earth! Before the S.P.D. Rangers return to the future, Doggie erases their and the Dino Rangers memories.

  • Not as good as I was expecting...

After Thunder Storm, the crossover of Dino Thunder and Ninja Storm, I was expecting another incredible duo of episodes for SPD and Dino Thunder. Unfortunately, I was greatly dissapointed. Although this one is definitely better than History, I was hoping for a great battle that ended the one of Thuder Storm. Instead, all we got was both the battlizers and z-rex blaster with Canine Cannon, as opposed to every power (besides the zords) that each teams had. What's more, they couldnt even get Jason David Frank, and whilst I understand that they might not have been ABLE to get him, that doesnt make me feel any less annoyed. However, it had some good points, and a few funny lines, such as Crugers "Cheese"..."Uh...yeah. I think I'd better...".moreless
  • I've seen better...

This was not my favorite story. Everything started off so well. The emperor decides to go back in time and conqur earth before the creation of SPD. Sound good, right? Wrong! I was looking forward to seeing Mesogog and Gruumm team up or something. I would think that the troobian ship would have triggered something! That was just plain stupid to me.

I also don't like the fact that Jason David Frank didn't voice Dr. O. It was alright, but they could have planned this crossover long before Dino Thunder Ended, that way we would have the real Dr. O's voice. I also don't see why the rangers had to lose their memory. Time Force kept their memory didn't they? Unless SPD was the time when the started the whole erasing the time travel memories, which kind of seems interesting now.

The only good thing that I really like about this episode is that we see Mora, finally drawing some fearsome warriors. That's about my only liking of this episode, as Mora has drawn some really sorry monsters. Remember Bugglesworth? Just plain silly! At last Mora draws some warriors worthy of Gruumm!

This episode was average at best.moreless

Trivia, Notes, Quotes and Allusions

  • TRIVIA (17)

    • With this episode, the character of Tommy Oliver has appeared in 8 of the 13 seasons of Power Rangers in some capacity, missing only Power Rangers in Space, Power Rangers Lost Galaxy, Power Rangers Lightspeed Rescue, Power Rangers Time Force, and Power Rangers Ninja Storm.

    • The "Spotty Eyed Monster", not only wears a dress, has a prominent bust line, and feminine facial features, but fights the three Ranger women. Yet, the creature has a very MALE voice!

    • The two teams of Rangers make a big deal about not letting anyone get inside their circle. But immediately following, they break up their circle and go off fighting on their own.

    • When Jack poses in front of the Orangehead he's just destroyed, multicolored sparkles fly all about the scene. In all other destructions of Orangeheads, this does not happen.

    • When the legs of the people running for their lives from the Oranghead are shown, very visibly is the alien with the combination body of PRLG's Chemaliac and hands & legs from the unused GGV monster (who was at Piggy's in "Wired (2)"). This scene is supposed to be in 2004, before aliens lived among humans!

    • Gruumm tells the Magnificence that he will "prepare for his arrival". Yet, at least by the time Mora is restored from being Morgana, Omni is already on the ship.

    • The camera angle of Zeltrax first facing the Dino Rangers shows the sky above him. It's clear and empty, yet after cutting to the teens' reactions, we see Gruumm's ship is hovering above, unmoving, and is far too huge to not have been visible in that previous shot.

    • The caption claims the Dino Rangers are at "Reefside High" in the scene scene with them, but they're walking in the woods some ways away from the school!

    • The onscreen captions of "Newtech City 2025" and "Reefside High 2004" appear very briefly, cutting off very suddenly instead of fading out like onscreen captions normally do on the show.

    • The B-Squad celebrates very quickly upon hearing Gruumm's ship is gone, immediately thinking he's treated. But considering he's conquered numerous planets and galaxies, and they're a POLICE force with the sole purpose of bringing him in to face justice, their excitement over his leaving to go attack some other planet without an SPD Ranger force to protect is beyond absurd.

    • When Trent morphs in to the White Ranger instead of saying "White Ranger, Dino Power" as he usually says he morphs like the rest of his team "Dino Thunder, Power Up."

    • Jack comments that he and the SPD Rangers have already met the DinoThunders, but they won't remember, since their memories were erased. That's true, but the DTs in "History" were from the year 2005, and the ones in this episode are from the year 2004. Clearly, Jack doesn't pay attention to details and only sees them from his point of view, not their's. But Bridge also falls victim to this, when Conner asks why they don't recall meeting the B-Squad already, he tells him they erased their memories so that's why they don't remember (when he should be saying it hasn't happened for them yet).

    • Zeltrax is seen commanding Tyrannodrones. But following his going rogue from Mesogog (which he's stated as being in this episode), he only had access to Triptoids. Of course, this could explain why he didn't have T-Drones during late PRDT: the few he did all got destroyed in this episode!

    • The Orangehead that Jack battles uses a pair of repainted Chrono-Sabers from PRTF (not a sign of cheapness on PR's part, as their recycling comes from Dekaranger).

    • Conner's name is misspelled as "Connor" in the end credits. Also, Mora is listed in the end credits instead of the opening, where Morgana is still listed.

    • The claim about how knowledge of the future is bad to explain why the DTs get their memory erased doesn't hold up when it comes to the SPDs getting their's wiped. They learned nothing of the future by going into the past. Not to mention, both Tommy and Omega Ranger don't have their memories of the incident erased.

Not only that, but it's bone stupid to wipe your memories when you haven't returned from the mission yet. You'll want to know where you were, and a little research would uncover the truth anyway. Plus, Kat would still know, as would anyone in the SPD Command Center... AND Zeltrax, and probably Mesogog and Elsa, who'd almost certainly see the entire thing.

    • The "Einstein theory of time travel" used in the episode contradicts those from every prior Power Rangers episode. Right down to Mora claiming Gruumm would have to re-conquer all the planets he invaded in the past, such a thing wouldn't be needed unless his future self took over his earlier body, which it didn't. Similarly, Kat claims the wormhole "could provide time travel", as if time travel is impossible, despite it having been done already in "Samurai".

  • QUOTES (13)

    • Emperor Grumm: NO! I'll go down there and finish them off, myself!
Mora: NOT such a good idea, your Hornship. (as the Wormhole is seen closing) Looks like the wormhole's closing. If we don't go back, we're NEVER going back.
Emperor Grumm: No matter, I'll defeat Earth now.
Mora: Fine, but then you'll also going to have to re-conquer all the other planets and galaxies you've already defeated. Because since it's 2004, None of that's happened yet! So if I were you... (Grumm growls at her) Maybe...
Emperor Grumm: Very well. (his ship takes off)

    • Conner: Hey, guys, what's up?
Kira: Ethan's given us a history lesson on something he's learned on his handheld "geekboy."
Ethan: All right, you're right. It's not ancient galactic history.
      Kira: Finally.
Ethan: But it could be the future.
Conner: Remember, it's just a game.
[Gruumm's warship comes into view and hovers over the school]

    • Commander Cruger: Gruumm is gone, and so is his ship.
      Sky: Yes! He's retreated.
Jack: WE WON!!! (he and the other teens cheer)
      Commander Cruger: ENOUGH!
Jack: Hello?! It's celebration time. You said it yourself. Gruumm is gone!
Commmander Cruger: Yes, but I know my enemy. He does not retreat.

    • Orange Head: I claim this area in the name of the Troobian empire!
      Jack: Not so fast, pumpkinhead.

    • Gruumm: So, you are the one they called...Zeltrax.
Zeltrax: You know my name, and now you will know my wrath.

    • Cruger: Say cheese. (Erases Dino Rangers' memory) School's over, go home.
Kira: (while walking away) Did that dog just talk?
      Conner: I think so...

    • Ethan: Great. I was about to defeat the dreaded Maxodrome, when his evil ship comes by and destroys all that I've done. Can you believe it?
Kira: It's just a game, Ethan.
Trent: Yeah, you're acting as if it's real.
Ethan: What if it is real? What if this game is really an ancient diary telling me about a real event that happened in a distant galaxy far, far away?
Kira: Ethan, your mind is the only thing that is far, far away.

    • Bridge: Is that all you got?
      (Orangehead fires at Bridge)
      Bridge: I guess not!

    • Bluehead: Any last words, Ranger?
      Bridge: [morphs] S.P.D. emergency!

    • Zeltrax: This is your end, Power Rangers. You are outnumbered. Look at the size of my army.
Commander Cruger: It is true. You have us outnumbered. But remember it's not the size of the dog in the fight, it's the size of the fight in the dog. No one gets inside our circle!
[each Ranger says "No one gets inside our circle"]

    • Omega Ranger: Not bad.
Trent: Thanks. Check this out. [Trent speed attacks the Tyranndrones and Krybots]
Omega Ranger: How about this. Omega morpher -- electro mode.
[Omega blasts them with an electric ground charge]
      Omega Ranger: That did it.

    • All 12 Power Rangers: Power Rangers! Defenders of Earth!

    • Bridge: I really wish I could stay. I was born last week, and I could meet myself and become my own best friend. Wait. What if I met myself and didn't like me?

  • NOTES (10)

    • This episode marks the final appearance of Jack's Battlizer, in both modes.

    • Kira, and her Yellow Ptera Ranger powers, will return in PROO's "Once A Ranger" two-parter.

    • Doggie calls Gruumm's space craft "The Terror", the only naming of it onscreen (though it had already been called that on a DVD trivia question).

    • Debuted on Toon Disney, on a SPECIAL day and time on Thursday, February 2, 2006 at 8:00pm E&P. ABC Family debut date: a special day and time of Sunday, February 5 at 8:30am E&P.

    • In this episode we find out that Bridge (and most likely the other B-Squad Rangers) was born in 2004

    • This episode made its intended premiere (meaning not a mistake like the Canada affair) first on home video/DVD, with the 12/06/05 releases of PRSPD Volume 4 "Boom" and 5 "Zapped", as a bonus "never before aired episode".

    • Tommy doesn't appear unmorphed, and aside from various recycled lines of dialogue, his voice is done by someone other than Jason David Frank (believed to be Trent's actor, uncredited). This is the first time since season 1's "Green With Evil (5)", with the quick drop-in line of "No way!" that Tommy has been voiced by anyone other than JDF.

    • This episode takes place, from a DinoThunder standpoint, anytime between
"The Passion of Connor" and "House of Cards". From an SPD standpoint, possibly between scenes in the episode "Badge".

    • Jack claims that he and the SPD team met Conner, Kira, and Ethan before, referring to the earlier episode "History".

    • Due to a mistake, this episode made its worldwide debut outside of its country of origin, on Family Channel Canada, on Saturday July 30th, 2005.

    • Ethan: What if it is real? What if this game is really an ancient diary telling me about a real event that happened in a distant galaxy far, far away?

Reference to the opening on-screen text monologue from 1977's Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope, its two sequels and its prequel trilogy.

    • Kira calls Ethan's handheld video game device a "Geekboy", referencing the Nintendo Gameboy, which is the most commonly popular handheld video game device.
