Episode Summary

The girls must pay the penalty for trying to ignore ''A.'' Whether it is a family in crisis, parental praise for an undeserved honor looming over their head or wearing totally unfashionable scrubs while working off a debt, the girls must deal with it all. And on top of that "A"'s lipstick message is still haunting them.

  • More of a soap this week.

This week PLL was more of a soap than a mystery, It concentrated on Aria's parents and teacher/boyfriend issues and Spencer's relationship with her controlling father. The girls put less focus on a blind girl using a mirror to apply lipstick, the same lipstick A used on the mirror writing.
  • Season 1, Episode 5

The girls deal with the aftermath of the "A" break-in. Meanwhile, Aria deals with her own aftermath with her parents. Spencer wins an award for the paper she stole for her sister. Emily and Toby get closer as lab partners. Ezra invites Aria to see him read his poetry at a bar and while there they meet one of his old college roommates, who realizes they have something going on between them. While at her work, Hanna meets up with Jenna in an elevator realizing shes using the exact lipstick that was used to write on the mirror. Hanna also sneaks into the office where Jenna was to steal her file to find out what's going on with her and finds out she's seeing a therapist. Later, Aria leaves her cell phone at Ezra's apartment and Ezra reads a text message from A talking about their relationship, when Ezra decides to end things because he thinks she told people about them.

    Good episode, moving things along.

The Toby & Emily interactions were definitely the best thing about this episode. Of course, Hannah finding out about Emily & Maya was also a big plus. This episode didn't really seem like it was going anywhere until the very end. Pretty Little Liars never fails to surprise me. I wouldn't call this show addicting, but it is definitely shocking. The story lines are intriguing, the characters are three dimensional. This a good show to watch.

Yet some things about this episode were a bit lack luster. Hannah was incredibly uninteresting even though she found out that Jenna has the same lipstick as Allison. She gets back together with Shawn, uninteresting. Spencer was also uninteresting and disappointing with her new interactions with Alex, a new guy. I liked her interactions with Ren. Oh well.

Aria & Ezra break up after Ezra finds out about A. It had to happen, their relationship was becoming kind of boring, even though they were really fun to watch in this episode. The highlight was definitely Toby & Emily. And Hannah finding out that Emily likes girls too. Good episode, not as good as it has been lately but still good.moreless
