The mystery stuff in "What Lies Beneath" was great: It feels as though we’re actually building to a resolution in the case of Maya’s murder.

This episode of Pretty Little Liars displays what this show does well, and what it does not do well at all. The constant "A" drama and the revelation of an unknown killer for Maya had us hooked until the ending, but the relationship drama, whether it is Aria's mother or Hanna, it's just not interesting in the least. Considering the bulk of the episode was devoted to that, I can't give it too high a score.moreless
