      • Super Sentai connection

The Blue Sky Cool Rangers are a spoof of Japan's live-action Tokuatsu Super Sentai series, as it uses five similar costumed heroes that perform Super Sentai-style poses for introducing themselves in battle and a giant robot called the Cool Ranger Robot (Cool Ranger Robo in Japan). The Super Sentai series had also been adapted in the US as Power Rangers. There are also numerous references to Super Sentai's history and popularity as well. First Ginji and Honoka mention that the Cool Rangers is a legendary Japanese program that started 20 years ago with the Five Secret Ninja Rangers. The Sentai series started in Japan in 1975 with Himtsu Sentai Goranger (Secret Task Force Goranger) but officially became known as the Super Sentai series when the Giant Robot concept was introduced in the 1979 series Battle Fever J, which was the third series and after that the series changed every year. Konoha also mentioned that the Cool Ranger show was for Kindergarten Kids which is true as the Super Sentai shows that are shown in Japan are meant for young children.

Writer Naruhisa Arakawa would later be a series writer for the 35th Super Sentai series called Kaizoku Sentai Gokaiger which started airing in Feburary 2011.
