Defeat Rubeus! The Final Battle in Space
AIRED:
Sailor Moon and ChibiUsa are sucked into the UFO when they try to find their friends. Rubeus uses the power from a special crystal to increase the gravity around Sailor Moon and crush her to death. ChibiUsa notices the source of his power and manages to remove the crystal from the ship and shatter it. As the UFO collapses around them, the reunited Sailor Warriors form a circle around ChibiUsa and teleport away. Rubeus dies as his ship explodes. Later, Esmeraude appears before Prince Dimande and is ordered to take Rubeus' place.moreless

I'll just say Rubius had it coming, hurting Usagi/Sailor Moon shame on him, but abducting her friends and hurting them he just crossed the line and it's war.

What I liked about this episode is we truely saw real strength in Usagi/Sailor Moon. In one scene she talks about herself and makes her decision on what she'll do to save her friends. She is aware of how she tended to sherk responsibilty and at time weak behavor always thinking she could run the other way and that her friends are always going to be there to back her up at times, we see from her tone a sense of awareness and shame from that behavior. But now she knows she can't do that anymore because not just is there no one backing her up anymore, all fingers are now pointed at her to defend the innocent but also save her friends, she knows she the only one that can do it because no one else can.

This episode is about responsibity in actions as well as faith. This isn't just Usagi's test but we see it's also Chibi-Usa's as well. She is aware that the abduction of the Senchi was partial her responsitibity, and of course for some reason she feel compeled to go with Sailor Moon and help her in her cause. One of the things I really like about this episode is the fact that Sailor Moon and of course Chibi Usa are the ones that solve this problem on their own. We see two forms of heroism, one with the superpowers with Sailor Moon and Rubius fighting as well as Chibi-Usa who has no powers. We see that both the heroes are having dificulty. Rubius seems to be well armed from not just his powers but the ship he commands which increases his powers. Sailor Moon looks like she could lose, and Chibi-Usa despite her efforts just aren't doing enough good. However both of them have one power greater than all of Rubius's technology and powers and that is faith which can supass anything. In a way the battle between Rubius and Salior Moon with Chibi-Usa is sort of once again the David and Golith principle. From just seeing Usagi despite being hit with some sort of strong gravity attack that is litterally crushing her she is able to stand up and continue fighting no matter what she doesn't care what he dishes out she can take it, what really matters are her friends lives. Same with Chibi-Usa who is the small kid that has not a lot of physical strength nor powers and when she is trying to pull and shatter the source of Rubius's powers it's hurting her, and yet she cotinues to do it because she knows she can and has to, and we see that's when her hidden power thoughout the show starts to really show and become stronger. It just goes to show if you have enough faith in yourself and what you believe in and do, then you can win you can accomplish anything. But most of all become more than what you are. But also in a way there is sort of a parallel contrast in character between Sailor Moon/Chibi-Usa and Rubius. Rubius in a way despite all his power just like Golith is a failed man. His own self centered ambitions but worst of all faithlessness in the most imporatant things in life like friends or even love has made him weak and powerless in the end. Perhaps if he had those two things he might have survived but his lack of them were what really lead to his downfall. So in this episode Sailor Moon and Chibi-Usa become stronger and more than before. And will continue for the adventures to come.moreless
