How do you like her performance?
I think Jennifer did great job. She is absolutely perfect for role of Elizabeth Bennet. Much better then Keira in her own way...

Yes i agree, the original film is by far superior to the modern version.

Agreed. Seriously, if Kiera had been that thin in the Regency, everyone would have thought her family very poor. Give that girl a sandwich!

Ehle brings light and grit and a wonderful ... Lizziness to the part. I love her for that!

I agree the new version is no where near as good as this one. Kiera's "Lizzy" can't compare to Jennifer's.

Hi everyone,

I think that Jennifer did a wonderful job, for me she is the perfect Lizzy !
And I must say I was disappointed when I first heard that Kiera will be the new Lizzy but in the end she was bearable.

In general I'm addicted to this version and I don't like the new version at all !

Jennifer Ehle was the perfect Elizabeth, but what about Colin Firth as Darcy? He is Darcy! In fact, just about everyone was the best I've ever seen, and that includes the Sir Laurence Olivier/Greer Garson movie version, which is also quite good. The Kiera Knightley version was okay, and I must admit she was more the right age for the part, but all in all it can't compare. I've also seen it performed on stage at the Stratford, Ontario Shakespeare Festival and that was quite enjoyable.

everyone in the 1995 version of p & p was perfect for their role. but keira knightley in particular made me want to slap her at the end. she was incredibly annoying. way more "wild" then the jennifer, lizzy.

I had to watch the BBC version for my English exam (we studied the book) thus I saw it way before the movie came out. The film is good but I prefer the long version... and I prefer this versions Lizzy.

oh i guess i disagree with most of the people on thsi thread.. I really liked Jennifer as Lizzie, but Keira is closer to how I pictured Lizzie being from reading the book.. As well, I thought jennifer was a little too old but she down-played it, and I liked her performance.

Jennifer Ehle is perfect. Wonderful actress! The entire time I watched the new P&P movie with Keira, I wanted someone to feed her. She is far too thin!

I think Jennifer did an excellent job as Lizzy and was perfectly cast. Keira certainly played the role differently in her version of the movie, but we would expect that. I just really admire British drama and British actors in general, they have a great deal of skill.
