The team face off against diictodons, cute but surprisingly dangerous burrowing creatures that came through an anomaly from the Permian era that opened in the middle of a busy hospital in London. Meanwhile, Helen infiltrates the ARC with disastrous consequences.
  • The beginning of the end of the series success started when Steven was killed off then to make things worse you killed of Cutter, and then Jenny. 3 of the best stars that made the series what it was are gone.moreless

    "Abysmal"
This was one of the best TV series I've seen for a long time and me and my sister was importing the series on DVDs as soon as they were released at $75.00 a series.

Why kill off Cutter, Steven and have Jenny Brown leave? They were the heart of the show alone with Helen, Abby, Conner and James Lester.

They have broke the golden rule of thumb," If you have a winning team making a successful series, don't change the main stars that helped create the show." because it destroys the movie or series. Replacing Cutter with Jason Flemyng - Danny Quinn an x-cop who knows nothing and bring almost nothing to contribute to the team is just unbelievable not to mention he's the worst actor in the series along with the baby faced so call security soldier who looks like he's seen as much action as I have (wimp).

I'd really like to see the rest of the original team go back in time and revive Cutter, Jenny and Steven.

Please do something to get the original team back in play and get rid of Danny and the boy soldier. Cheers from Australia.moreless
  • How do you shut down and contain something loose in hospital and not cause panic? The team have to do just that and it isn't easy.

    **CONTAINS MAJOR SPOILER**

I've given this a rating of 9.0 becuse it has a lot of important stuff in regards to the future of the series, but the first part of this episode should make it more of an 7.5 than the mark I gave it.

The creature of the week are cute so instantly it tells you they are little threat to anyone. This is further compounded by the amount of humour in the story whilst set in the hospital.
The second half of this episode when it returns to the ARC is when it really picks up. There are few clues of wht is bout to come but it's still quite shocking when it finlly does.
IMO it was right that Cutter died as he was very unlikely he would ever quit and walk way. Other than have him get lost through an anomoly there was no other way to go.
His death was handled really well and the overhead shot worked really well. Sadly they didn't kill off Helen as well. Her charcter has run it's course and is no longer required.moreless
  • Helen takes over the ARC while Nick and the team are at a hospital investigating the most current anomaly. Dictadons, a very social small cute creature that likes to burrow cause electrical problems and disrupt the area they come through.moreless

A major comeback from the episode last week. A very moving story in which all the main characters take part. In the end Connor, Abby, Sarah, and Jenny are left alone to move forward with the help of Lester and Becker. The story takes a horrifying turn when Helen takes over the ARC with the assistance of a Nick Cutter clone she made using future technology.

The anomaly this week at the hospital was done quite well and the creatures were cute and believable. This time a very social burrowing animal from the Permian Era comes thru that wreaks havoc with a hospitals electrical system. Two of the creatures are left behind when the anomaly closes before they can get back. Connor and Abby take them to the ARC.

We find out Helen is semi-psychotic because she has seen the end of most life in the future and she claims that Nick specifically is responsible. She shoots and kills Nick when he returns to the building to save her leaving Connor now the senior scientist in the ARC group and blows up the central part of the ARC as well. There is an artifact that Nick gives Connor at the end we don't know what it does yet and it is left to Connor to deal with it. Very touching and well done ending sequence between Nick and Connor. Right before Helen shoots Nick he says, "You're not as smart as I thought you were." Helen shoots him. Connor races back into the building and finds Nick on the floor shot. He tries to pick Nick up and Nick says, "Just sit with me. Listen, (handing Connor the artifact) this matters, don't know why? Find out what it means. It's on you now." As Nick expires and leans into Connor, Connor says in a low voice, "I won't let you down Professor."moreless
  • Wow this was an exciting episode with a shocking conclusion.

To start, this episode was packed with action and suspense. When I sat down to watch it I never would have guessed how it was going to end. While the team is out investigating an anomaly, Helen infiltrates the A.R.C. with a Cutter look-a-like. When the team returns they realize whats going on and Cutter finds himself in a showdown with Helen. When she loses control of her men, one of them detonates a bomb juster after the team escapes. When Helen doesn't come out Cutter goes back in to find her. When he finds her she mortally wounds him. I was absolutely blown away! What we don't know is whether or not he will be back. Of course anything is possible, and I am hopeful.moreless
  • Primeval Wars Episode XVI : Ellen Strikes Back

    7.0
    "Good"
First the creatures were cute and they actually reminded me of the fourth episode dodos. However I found the scenes involving the pregnant woman quite boring and not original. It has been done so many times, in the French film Neuf Mois for example. Considering the reporter's etchnicity I'm also starting to believe that they only switched to an ensemble cast for legal reasons. But I have to admit that his role could be interesting if the writers decide to better plot the upcoming episodes. There was also that girly scene involving Jennifer and Sarah that I liked because her relationship with Nick is one of the main reasons I watch the show actually.

About the story I was really glad of Helen's return because her charisma reminds me of characters like Trinity (The Matrix) and Ellen Ripley (Alien). What she said about the future really intrigued me and Juliet Aubrey's performance was quite good, it really felt like her character had witnessed horrific events. The scenes involving her soldiers were interesting and warned us about the danger of human cloning. In fact I really enjoyed the "jump" reference to the film The Matrix. Moreover a clone was specially important because someone tried to free its mind from Helen's control voice (A reference to Dune ?). And even if these controversial subjects have already been covered in many works, like the film The Island for example, I think the writers managed to place their own pieces of the puzzle.

Last but not least the ending was anything but expected. It's a major twist and almost felt like a cliffhanger. However I was quite disappointed by the way it was written because it didn't feel right, nearly stupid and the acting was even clumsy at times. However considering the past episodes I expect something even more twisted to happen in the upcoming episodes. Moreover the previews revealed that a supporting character will return and as I really liked its performance So overall it was an average installment because some scenes were just too annoying. But instead of cursing the writers I think we should use it as an excuse to become fan fiction story writers. Because even if "Whatever Happened, Happened" (Lost) I think that everything is possible when it comes to fiction. And I'm almost certain that Primeval will prove me right so the best is yet to come.moreless

    • During the episode, Helen says that the clones have limited intelligence; enough to follow basic instructions. So how is it possible for one of the clones to identify and tell her that infiltration into the Arc is impossible without security clearance and retina scans?

    ADD QUOTES
    • (Connor walks out with Cutter in his arms) Lester: Get an ambulance, quick! Jenny: Oh Nick! Connor: It's too late. Abby: What? Jenny: It can't be, oh God! There was something I was going to tell him. Connor: (Looking at the Artefact) I won't let you down professor. Lester: Get this man in an ambulance, now!

    • Cutter: Listen. (Shows Connor the Artefact) This matters, I don't know why, but it does, so you have to find out what it means, okay? Connor: Okay. Cutter: It's on you now. Connor: No, no, we can do this together, we've always done it together. Cutter: No, not this time. (Cutter starts to slip into unconsciousness) Tell Claudia Brown, never mind, it doesn't matter.

    • Lester: What the hell has got into Cutter? Abby: That's not him. Connor: There's two of him. Lester: Two versions of Cutter. Sounds like some sort of nightmare.

    • Cutter: (Talking to a woman about to give birth) This woman is a trained health professional. Pregnant girl: She doesn't look like a nurse. Cutter: No, she's not, she's a zoo keeper. Pregnant girl: What? Cutter: Abby, how many babies have you delivered? Abby: Dozens. Pregnant girl: What kind of babies? Abby: Zebras, lions, antelopes, and I delivered a giraffe once. (The pregnant girl moans) Cutter: You see? Now don't worry, the principle is exactly the same, only hopefully your baby will have a shorter neck.

    • Jenny: What do you think about Cutter? Sarah: Erm, Cutter, I think he's, erm, a great guy. (Jenny nods) Oh, you mean, what do I think of Cutter? Okay, I think that he is pretty hot in an emotionally toxic "don't come near me, I'm a romantic disaster" kind of way. Jenny: Just my type. Sarah: Is there something going on between you two?

    • Cutter: Abby. (He shows her a hole in the wall) Teeth marks. Abby: Hyperactive mice?
