  • Vera leaves Wentworth for greener pastures...

    9.0
Fione Spence was always impressive as the repressed and bitter Vera Bennett on Prisoner. And her last episode, she displays again why she will be missed. She is stoic when reporting the death of Terry (shot in front of her!) to the police. Then she dismisses Erica and Jim's concern about her ability to continue working with contempt. And in Meg's office, she finally breaks down and starts to sob about Terry and her lost opportunity with him. And when the prison officers organise a going-away party, Vera overhears Meg calling her 'an emotional cripple' and Colleen mentioning that Vera was never a good friend - and Vera decides to leave the prison without attending the party! What a way to leave the show!

  • Vinegar T**s last ever episode....

    9.5
Lizzie learns that Sid has left her his house in his will, which angers Gordon immensely, and he vows to contest the will. Courtesy of Myra, Alison gains the strength to apologise to the women about her attitude toward them, and Bea agrees to give her one last chance. Vera breaks down at Meg's office, and the women learn of Terry's murder on the TV. Later, on her last shift at the prison, she learns that some of the women respected her more than they let on, and she leaves without even attending the farewell party arranged for her. Fiona Spence's last episode and the credits roll up the external shot of the prison as a mark of respect for her.moreless
  • Last ever episode with Vinegar Vera

    10
This has to be one of my favourite episodes of the entire series featuring the last ever appearance of Fiona Spence playing the nasty warder Vera Bennett. I can remember seeing it on the last Monday just before Easter 1991 on Yorkshire TV (UK). The end of an era. Although she only played the part for 2 and a half years in Australia, YOrkshire TV were kind enough (Or lazy with dragging the series out) to have her character last 6 and a half years. She was definitely the best character in the series!!!moreless

    • This is Fiona Spence's final episode.
