Episode 3
AIRED:
With Franky's hold over the women growing, she attempts to show the screws who is in charge by getting the women to stay in the dining room until she gives the order for them to leave. Prostitute Chrissie Latham tries to seduce Bill but he turns her down. Lizzie and Marilyn mess around with the wiring so that Eddie will be called in. Marilyn and Eddie climb up into the roof for a "liaison". Bea's return sends Franky over the edge and she starts a riot in the dining room. Bea, Doreen and some of the women are trapped in the laundry; Franky, Lizzie, Chrissie and others are in the dining room. Franky wants the gates unlocked so she and Bea can fight it out. Trapped in Franky's side, pregnant prisoner Rosie Hudson goes into labour. Meg is taken hostage by Franky's mob and tied up in the dining room. Bill tries to talk Franky into letting Meg go. She agrees, but in the handover all hell breaks loose as she and her gang overpower the officers and let Bea's women out. Bea and Franky fight one-on-one until Lynn's screams alert them to Bill, stabbed in the chest with a pair of scissors.moreless

  • In an action-packed episode, someone ends up lying dead on the floor..

    9.0
Many things are shoved into this episode - which leaves the viewer exhausted by the end. Franky is trying to impress everyone by showing control as top dog. Lynn decides to go on a hunger strike because nobody believes her innocence. Karen rejects all help to get her another trial. Rosie is stressing about having her baby born in prison. Chrissie is trying to seduce Bill. Marty is being a rebellious teenager. But its Vera who pushes things into action - by encouraging the early return of Bea back into normal prison life - and a fight with Franky. I remember the tension of this episode from many years ago but I thought the eventual fight took longer. Meg is taken hostage and Bill tries to get her back - while the women fight amoungst themselves. Soon enough Bill is stabbed to death by one of the women while Bea dethrones Franky as top dog. Wow! The person who shines in this episode however is Fiona Spence - as Vera. She has many scenes as she manipulates those around her so she can bask in the eventual violence that ensues.moreless
  • A riot breaks out.

    8.5
Beginning to get obsessed with Eddie, Marilyn enlists Lizzie's help to get him back inside, and once inside, the electrician and the former prostitute engage in some roof top fun. Chrissie tries her best to seduce Bill Jackson, but is turned down flat. Meanwhile, Franky is determined to be Top Dog and is pushed over the edge by Bea Smith's return, and causes a riot in which a baby is born by a heavilly pregnant prisoner, and as Meg is taken hostage by the rioting prisoners, Bill negotiates her freedom, but the hand over ends in a piercing scream, from Karen Travers, and Bill is found dead on the floor with a pair of scissors in his chest.moreless
