Episode 79
AIRED:
Karen is rushed to hospital, her life hanging in the balance following the shooting. Greg, Doreen and Karen's mother keep a vigil at the hospital. The police suspect Greg was the target and not Karen as the doctors tell him that there are fragments of the bullets dangerously close to her heart. They need Karen's mother's permission to operate and try to remove them. Meanwhile, David O'Connell refuses to turn himself in. When he tells Herbie that he will try to kill Greg again, Herbie shops him to the cops. The VJ gives Ros another three days in the pound. Political activist Janet Dominguez arrives in Wentworth and proves to be an intelligent, eloquent woman, despite the screws' assumptions about her. Ros befriends her through the wall in Solitary. Meg dines with the Fletchers and Geoff. Leila is horrified when Jim invites his old pal to move in with them.moreless

    • This was the last episode screened in Australia in 1979. The last episode of 1979 is widely believed to have been episode 82, however episode 82 was shown in Melbourne in January 1980. It is likely this episode was originally intended as the 1979 cliffhanger, yet the 1979 season was extended by two weeks so episode 82 may have been intended as the end of season episode. The loss of a weeks episodes in October due to industrial action may have enforced the return to the original end of season episode.

    • Sheila Florance and Amanda Muggleton do not appear in this episode.
