Cooper's patient calls himself a "Bubble Boy". Bubble Boy was a 2001 movie starring Jake Gyllenhaal about a boy born without an immune system who is forced to live inside a bubble for his own protection.
When Dr. Bailey arrives in LA, she tells Addison about the merger between Seattle Grace and Mercy West hospitals in Seattle. Both hospitals are fictional locations from the television show, Grey's Anatomy, of which Private Practice is a spin-off.
