After a poor season premiere, season three delivered two good episodes in a row. Do the Right Thing offers an interesting take on the idea of order and justice. Sam profiles the killer - Officer Andrea Brown - as someone who reveres order. We see in Andrea's actions a rigid, almost unyielding sense of order and rightness - how she dresses, walks, acts (the actress Stacy Haiduk does a great job). The idea that she punishes men who refuse to do their duty gives the show an interesting and powerful twist. That her own father - who she could never please - was shot and killed in the line of duty pushed her over the edge into killing, into "doing the right thing."
Overall, a strong episode with two off notes, both involving John Grant. The first is Grant's explosive interview with the wrong suspect, the second his blow up with Malone. Both scenes felt out of character - John is many things but he's not a thug and he's not inherently violent and his relationship with Bailey is not that confrontational. An otherwise good episode.moreless
