It is truly odd that this excellent, Emmy winning historical series is rated as "mediocre". It was anything but mediocre, and deserves to be released on DVD. Even though it was based on a flawed and over-rated book that Theodore Sorenson ghost-wrote for JFK, the series was superb. Many of the episodes were gripping drama, and the show was historically infomative, well written, and well acted. Unfortunatly, I nevwer saw it when it was on American Tv, but had to wait for a Candian Broadcasting station( I live across the border from Canada in Detroit.) to rerun a number of the episodes. I teach Political Science in a community college, and have used two bootleg episodes of Slattery's People in class. I would love to do the same thing with some episodes of Profiles in Courage.
