    Trivia, Notes, Quotes and Allusions

    • TRIVIA (2)

    • QUOTES (4)

      • Ben de Lisi: (looking at Wayne's fabric choice) You know when you think of The Wizard of Oz, the good witch and the bad witch? It's the bad witch. This is the bad witch.

      • Giles: (checking out Julien's range in Debenhams) I would love it if he was standing here now and all the designers could give their opinion of his collection here.

      • Wayne: (when given 30 minutes to choose one item from Debenham's for his design) It was a case of, 'Quick, run... but where am I going? What am I looking for?

      • Wayne: (waiting backstage to find out who the third designer would be) It's a better opportunity for Giles... (hears Luke scream) Luke's got through. I don't believe that.

    • NOTES (1)

      • Ren Pearce and Andrew Fionda design for stars and women who do lunch, as well as creating wedding dresses for celebrities such as Celine Dion, Nicole Kidman and Iman. In 1995 Pearce Fionda won the Lloyds Bank Fashion Awards New Generation prize, with the bonus of sponsorship to stage a catwalk show at London Fashion Week. The following year, they travelled to Istanbul to be presented with the title of Young Designers of the World.

    • ALLUSIONS (3)

      • Wayne: I wanted to show that you can actually have a black wedding dress without it looking Morticia Addams.
The Addams Family began as a comic, which was later turned into a TV show and a number of movies. Morticia Addams is the fictional matriarch of The Addams Family and her name "Morticia", implies "death" (derived from "mors mortis", Latin for "death"). She can be described as vampish, with pale skin and long, flowing black hair, and she commonly wears long, black gothic dresses.

      • Paula Jean Reed: (on Monika's design) That hat is Nora Batty. I just don't get it.

Nora Batty is a character on the UK sitcom The Last of the Summer Wine. Nora Batty is also synonymous with "a formidable housewife".

      • Holly Willoughby: Think of this like a wedding dress speed date.

Speed dating is a formalized matchmaking process or dating system whose purpose is to encourage people to meet a large number of new people. The first speed-dating event took place at Pete's Cafe in Beverly Hills in late 1998. By 2000, speed dating really took off, maybe because of it's portrayal in shows such as Sex and the City as something that glamorous people did.
