    Trivia, Notes, Quotes and Allusions

    FILTER BY TYPE

    • TRIVIA (3)

      • Aside from Ben the designers have two people critique their work while still in the construction stage. Julien MacDonald gives them the benefit of his experience with designing corporate uniforms, having done so himself for British Airways and The Blue Water Shopping Complex among others. And Natalie Semence, one of the Housekeepers of the Savoy tries on their outfits and tells them how it feels as someone who will be wearing their design every day.

      • Renato keeps his model Lynsey from the last Challenge. He switches Kirsty's model Shereene for Marianne's model Jessica.

      • Marianne Fay is sent home this round, and the winner is Matthew Bowkett.

    • QUOTES (7)

      • Debi: (working as a maid at the Savoy) I feel probably more like I'm in a porno and I'm about to, uh, rip my dress off.

      • Julien MacDonald: The great thing is about uniforms you get paid alot of money. They can pay for an entire fashion show.

      • Julien MacDonald: (critiquing Christopher) When you see your clothes I just think, 'But who's going to wear that?' and you don't even know yourself.

      • Renato: (referring to Matthew) He's cute, he's young, he's gay and he looks like a giant kitten. That's why he's still in, I think.

      • Renato: The good thing is that, you know we are all in the same boat. You know tomorrow's going to be like Russian Roulette, you know, one bullet (shooting noise and gesture). Die.

      • Matthew: (as Marianne playfully throws food at him) I've got to protect my pretty face- it's the one thing I've got going for me in this competition.

      • Renato: (when he discovers that Michael has won) This is the most shambolic catwalk show...
        Lynsey: (interrupting) Ever, I know.

    • NOTES (2)

      • The Savoy will be putting Matthew's winning design into production for their staff.

      • Elizabeth is the only one of the regular Judges to judge the designers creations this episode. Fashion Designer Giles Deacon returns, and is accompanied by Jutta Asta, the Executive Housekeeper of the Savoy Hotel Group and AA Gill, travel writer and food critic.

    • ALLUSIONS (2)

      • Natalie Semence: (trying on Renato's design) I feel like I'm Heidi. Do you know Heidi?
        Renato: Yes, I love Heidi.
Heidi is a Swiss girl in a book by the same name, written by Johanna Spyri. It was made into a movie also named Heidi starring Shirley Temple (1937).

      • Christopher: (upon seeing what Renato planned to wear to the catwalk show) Jesus Christ, what- Miami Vice meets The Hulk. Not only we can get evicted but you can get evicted wearing stupid clothes as well.
Renato has been noted for his suits reminiscent of those worn by Don Johnson from the 80s tv show Miami Vice. The Hulk is a Marvel Comics character that has been featured in a tv show and a movie by the same name.
