  • Amazing episode!

    10
It took Psych to an entirely different level with the drama and romance as well as keeping the comedy. Love this show so much!
  • A very rushed episode. Most disappointing of the season (and series).

A very rushed episode. Most disappointing of the season (and series). And seriously- what the hell was with Gus stopping Shawn from telling Juliet how he felt? And then Shawn being a puss in boots. It was just frustrating and made no sense. It all seemed like a copout to continue the tension between Shawn and Juliet. Worst storytelling of the series. I understand that after 4 years- there is a certain formula you fall into. Without re-inventing or switching up the cast and changing things that way, there isn't a lot you can do. you just have to tell solid stories and further develop the characters. This was a horrible exercise in manipulating the viewers.

The story was cursory and hurried.moreless
  • This episode was spectacular, truly. After the, in my opinion, disappointing episodes of season 4, this was a break through.

This episode was spectacular, truly. After the, in my opinion, disappointing episodes of season 4, this was a break through. I would say that this was easily the best episode this season, and one of the best in the past two season as well! I am surprised and very disappointed that this episode is getting such low reviews. I noticed that it got 50 reviews resulting in a 6.2 before the episode even came out! Which is just ridiculous unless I am wrong and it was somehow viewed ahead of time.

Anyways, the episode reminded me of episodes from the earlier seasons as it was extremely funny. It also had some tension in it that is not always present in Psych episodes. Although I was slightly disappointed that Shawn did not pull off saying what he wanted towards Juliet, I still have hope from this episode. I hope that this is another step towards SOMETHING finally happening between the two of them. I hope that this was a push in the right direction and that in the season finale there will finally be a breakthrough. Anyways, that's just my take on it.moreless
  • Shawn and Gus are out to stop a man from unleashing a deadly virus in Santa Barbara after it is stolen from a courier after he goes on an all-night bender.moreless

This is an absolutely amazing episode. Back to the roots of Psych, funny jokes, The banter between Shawn and Gus is fantastic, and the interaction between Shawn and Juliet is great--and the Shules moment at the end will have everyone wanting more! Judd Nelson is absolutely amazing as a guest star, especially with all the previous references in the other seasons. From Shawn's ringtone at the beginning, to the scene with the Hazmat suits, all the way to the very end with the cutest Shules moment since "Bounty Hunters!", this episode will not disappoint even the most avid Psych fan! It deserves much higher reviews than it has been voted for.moreless
  • Awesome episode.

    8.4
I am shocked by the low ratings for what was the best Psych since its return a month ago. The show has been on fire since coming back from hiatus, and has delivered some great guests as well, including Judd Nelson tonight, famously known as Bender from The Breakfast Club.

The comedy was top-notch, but there was also a storyline that had you on the edge of your seat throughout wondering if the viol would be set out into the world and if Jules had been infected.

Fast-moving and entertaining, just another great Psych tonight. Very difficult to not like this episode.moreless

  • TRIVIA (3)

    • When Shawn talks to Juliet at the end of the episode, he mentions the kids who flip the box over to get the toy from the cereal. This is a trick that Shawn was taught by his father, as shown in the flashback of the season one episode "9 Lives."

    • Nitpick
Shawn Spencer: There's also a third kid named Mikey who'll eat anything, including the prize, but he's not really important right now.
It is a popular misconception that Mikey from the Life cereal commercials likes everything, when the gist of the commercial is that if he likes it then it must be good, because he is actually a very picky eater.

    • Pineapples Spotting: There are 2 pineapples (and one pineapple mention) in this episode. The first one is behind Ginger when she's staggering around the store. The second one is shown in the background at the at the hotel bar.

The pineapple mention was Shawn ordering a drink at the hotel bar.

  • QUOTES (1)

  • NOTES (3)

  • ALLUSIONS (4)

    • Shawn: I'll have a club soda with three pineapple wedges, and if you can get the hippy hippy shake going, flip a few glasses, and introduce me to Elisabeth Shue there is an extra fiver in it for you.

This is a reference to the 1988 Roger Donaldson film Cocktail, starring Tom Cruise, Bryan Brown and Elisabeth Shue which included bartender antics as described.

    • Shawn: All right, first of all you have to stop using the "I'm not falling for no banana in the tail pipe" voice every time you imitate a white person.

This is a reference to the movie Beverly Hills Cop in which Eddie Murphy's character stops a police tail by putting a banana in the police car's tail pipe. Later his character runs into more policeman and one says they won't fall for a banana in the tail pipe and his character belittles the line's delivery by repeating it using this voice.

    • Gus: He also goes by Mister Dobalina
      Shawn: Mr. Bob Dobalina
This is a reference to the song "Zilch" by the Monkees from their 1967 album Headquarter in which one of the nonsense phrases spoken is, "Mr. Bob Dobolina."

    • Shawn tried to describe a hazmat (hazardous materials) suit by likening it to "Stay Puft" - as in the Stay Puft Marshmallow Man from the movie Ghostbusters (1984).
