  • Thank God, it's back!

I have been waiting eagerly for this perfect little jewel of a show to come back, and I was not disappointed. From the beginning when Shawn's lizard's name was revealed to be "Lizardy" to the end credits, I was LOL. Some of it was the joy of having the show back, but a lot of it was because the show was LOL funny. I love Cary Elwes' character. The fun he brings to the show coupled with Shawn's enthusiastic bromance with him, made for an hour of laughter. Yes, it seemed awkward when Shawn was trying to deal with Elwes' death, but I knew there was no way they would let his character just disappear.

I loved the Raiders of the Last Ark theme, and just loved the show from beginning to end. Yea!!!! It's back!!!!
  • Psych Returns

Good to have Psych back on a Wednesday night that needs a quality TV show. A lot of good lines throughout the broadcast, but I just wish this show would bury the Desperaux character for good. He never adds much to the show and this was actually a clever episode without involving him. Nice female villain.

Solid return for the show, but I would be lying if I did not admit to being a bit disappointed.
  • "You brought a funeral program to a knife fight."

Although it had some funny moments, the episode overall felt disjointed and incohesive. It swung between silly funny moments, uncomfortable unfunny moments, and serious moments all within the space of one scene. I felt like I was being pulled in three different directions, and didn't know how to treat the episode.

Cary Elwes was okay, though not as good as his last appearance in Extradition II. John Rys-Davies was a nice treat, especially given that he was in Raiders of the Lost Ark.

Although the episode was bit all over the place, there were some really funny lines. Shawn's issue with death was at moments sort of serious and sobering, but at other moments worked for a laugh.

The ring thing seemed sort of glossed over, given a cursory explanantion at best. I hope that it is not the end of that storyline, because that would be an awful thing to leave hanging. I think the writers are definitely emphasizing that Gus feels alone now that Shawn has a signifigant other. It was particularly evident in this episode, as he keeps going on about being a "playa."

Overall, the winter premiere was a bit disappointing, but some laugh-out-loud funny lines saved it from being added to the psych hall of shame.
