Teen Flashback: This episode included an edited version of "Unlicensed to Drive," presented by MasterCard during the next-to-last commercial break which explained how Shawn ended up using a motorcycle instead of a car (the full version was available at USA's PSYCH web site).
In the flashback at the end, we see the killer smashing the Psych office window while standing next to it inside the office. In reality, at the beginning Shawn and Gus wake up immediately after hearing the glass break. They would have caught the killer in the act if what was seen in the flashback actually happened that way.
In the photos Shawn took on the cell phone, Shangri-Lala's address is 1325 Beleveder Dr. Later when Shawn's talking to Lassiter and O'Hara, he says that Polexia "tends bar at Shangri-Lala's on State Street".
Psych-out: Gus and Shawn sing Hall & Oates' "Maneater" (1982) as guest star Joshua Malina, wearing the wolf pelt and diaper, chases Timothy Omundson around the forest set where the crime was solved.
Pineapple Spotting: When Shawn and Gus bring Henry the cooler, the contestant behind Henry can very briefly be seen holding a water bottle shaped like a pineapple.
(Shawn looking at a picture of Gus with a koala bear on Gus' phone) Shawn: Dude, am my eyes seeing what my brain is telling my eyes that they're seeing?
Henry: Shawn, where have you been? Shawn: Look, Gus and I are working a case, the likes of which our firm has never seen! Henry: That's every week!
International Episode Titles: Czech Republic "Vlkodlak" (Werewolf)
Original International Air Dates: Czech Republic July 30, 2011 on Prima COOL
Special billing was given to David Naughton (with) and Deanna Dunagan (and) for this episode.
This was not the first time that Joshua Malina and Dulé Hill had worked together. They starred on The West Wing from 2002-2006; Malina as Will Bailey, and Hill as Charlie Young.
Anachronism: Although press releases called this a "Halloween-themed episode" and Gus refers to last year's Halloween costume, Shawn and Gus watch WWE's Royal Rumble, which was held on January 25, 2009 (the Royal Rumble is an annual event that is only held in January).
The opening titles were edited down to 20 seconds (presumably because the main part of the show ran longer).
Featured Music: "Hungry Like the Wolf" by Duran Duran (1982)
Probably not coincidentally, the character Ken Tucker is also the name of the TV critic from Entertainment Weekly, who gave Psych a bad review in 2006 and panned it again recently on The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson.
Probably not coincidentally, David Naughton (Dr.Ken Tucker) starred in the 1981 John Landis film An American Werewolf in London as David Kessler, an American student mauled by a werewolf during a walking tour of England.
This is the second episode to have a movie-style episode title screen. The first was "Tuesday the 17th", and both episodes have a horror theme.
Let's Get Hairy The title of this episode is a word play on the title of the 1986 Alan Smithee film Let's Get Harry starring Robert Duvall, Gary Busey and Mark Harmon.
Shawn: (about Polexia Li) Wasn't that Anna Paquin's name in Almost Famous? Gus: Anna Paquin was in Almost Famous? Gus and Shawn are referring to Cameron Crowe's 2000 film in which Anna Paquin played a character named Polexia Aphrodisia.
