This episode was filmed on the campus of the University of British Columbia.
Psych-out: Gag reel from Shawn's first conversation with his father.
Nitpick: When Gus is talking about the 1973 film The Exorcist, Shawn says, "You're basing this case off a fictional film?" In actuality the novel on which the film is based is inspired by actual events that occurred in 1949.
Continuity: When Cameron asks Lucy if the accusations are true, we see the right side of her head in the shot, indicating that she's facing him. However, in the next shot she's looking away and then turns to look at him.
Continuity: If you look closely behind the Chinese priest in the crowd looking at the body you can see Shawn and Gus talking. However, in the next scene they arrive.
Pineapple Spotting: Agatha's avatar on Facebook when she is over everybody and just wants to be "LEFT ALONE!" is a pineapple.
Lassiter: (to O´Hara) Detective, you know what I think? I think that she was...
Shawn: (from behind) You´re wrong! I´m sorry, I jumped the gun on that. Please continue...
Lassiter: I think she was murdered.
Shawn: Are you finished?
Shawn: You´re wrong! My senses are telling me that this girl committed suicide.
Lassiter: Well you can tell your senses to kiss my sweet... (bells begin to ring)... love ... biscuits.
Lassiter: Kiss my sweet
(a nun walks by them) love biscuits.
Gus: I don't think you made that any less offensive.
Shawn: Burton Guster, you randy little spaniel.
Shawn: Gus, may I speak to you in the stop-openly-contradicting-me room?

Shawn: Just checking on my status updates. Check this one out. Shawn Spencer is trading in his Chevy for a Cadillac-alac-alac.
This is a reference to a line in the 1977 Billy Joel song "Movin' Out (Anthony's Song)". In the song Billy claims Sergeant O'Leary is "trading his Chevy for a Cadillac-ac-ac-ac-ac."
Shawn: I'll give you two possible scenarios. One, Cameron dumped Agatha and she threw herself off the building in despair, or two... Agatha dumped Cameron; he pushed her off the building in a fit of rage. Both of which are far more plausible than the Devil going down to Santa Barbara.
Shawn references the hit song "The Devil Went Down To Georgia" by the Charlie Daniels Band.
Father Westley: Trust me, possessions are real. They're real. I can personally attest to it.
Ray Wise, the actor who plays Father Westley, has two previous roles dealing with the devil and possessions. In Reaper, he played the Devil. In Twin Peaks, he played Leland Palmer, who was possessed by BOB (a demon).
