Psych-out: Deleted scene from Mary's stake-out.
Pineapple Spotting: The stone pineapple was on top of the fountain beside Juliet when she and Lassie ran up the 39 stairs.
In the scene when Shawn and Gus are talking to Shawn's dad and mocking him about the picture with the shark, we can see Lassiter's shadow behind them as he waits to come in.
In the flashback, Young Shawn is completely terrified by Jaws: The Revenge. Ironically, one of the 2 victims in Jaws: The Revenge was Sean Brody. They have the same name, but they are spelled differently.
Psych-out: Maggie sings Olivia Newton-John's "Let's Get Physical" as Timothy dances around her, but this is interrupted by a character motivation discussion.
Shawn asks the boat captain if he has cable because Gus doesn't want to miss the season finale of Leverage. Guest star Jeri Ryan was on Leverage this season.
Pineapple Spotting: The pineapple is on the bottle of suntan lotion.
Psych-out: Timothy Omundson sings Right Said Fred's "I'm Too Sexy" while beginning to shed his clothes.
Pineapple Spotting: There is a pineapple-shaped eraser on young Shawn's pencil in the flashback scene.
Trivia: In the last scene Shawn is speaking in Spanish, and introduces himself to the Bulgarian Consulate as "Shawnito Rodriguez." James Roday's real last name is Rodriguez.
Pineapple Mention: Shawn asks for a pineapple in the first present-day scene.
When Shawn talks to Juliet at the end of the episode, he mentions the kids who flip the box over to get the toy from the cereal. This is a trick that Shawn was taught by his father, as shown in the flashback of the season one episode "9 Lives."
Shawn Spencer: There's also a third kid named Mikey who'll eat anything, including the prize, but he's not really important right now.
It is a popular misconception that Mikey from the Life cereal commercials likes everything, when the gist of the commercial is that if he likes it then it must be good, because he is actually a very picky eater.
Pineapples Spotting: There are 2 pineapples (and one pineapple mention) in this episode. The first one is behind Ginger when she's staggering around the store. The second one is shown in the background at the at the hotel bar.
The pineapple mention was Shawn ordering a drink at the hotel bar.
Take Note: This is the episode that shows how Shawn got his scar, on his upper lip, from the shuffle with Agent Wayne. This scar can be seen during the rest of the episodes of the season.
It may be likely that James hurt himself while filming that scene.
Psych-out: Gag reel from the scene at Scott's door.
Nitpick: In this episode, a key piece of evidence is higher than expected, as it was embedded in a tree and as the tree grew it raised the evidence up. However, trees do not grow in this manner. Despite the widely held belief to the contrary, trees actually grow from the top. All parts of a tree (branches, embedded evidence, carved initials, etc.) will stay pretty much at the same height, no matter how much time passes.
The flashback in this episode was that of Juliet's past, not of Shawn's.
Pineapple Non-Spotting: There were no pineapples in this week's episode.
Trivia: When Spencer hangs the office cordless phone up after talking with Juliet, he places it upside down in the holder, where it is unable to charge. This is a reference to a previous episode where Gus berates Shawn for letting the phone die out because he placed it upside down in the charger.
