Nitpick: During his press conference, Hugo claims that the planet "he" discovered is Earth-like. However, the telescope he is seen using is not nearly large or powerful enough to resolve an Earth-sized planet around another star. Even the largest telescopes today are unable to directly view Earth-sized planets around other stars.
Psych-Out: Gus has some problems getting through a line, "We made a deal. Yesterday. We're equal partners. That means we collectively decide which appointments to make, which cases to take."
Gus' Alias: Dr. McTock
When Shawn removes the poster of Mike, we can see two ads. One is a want ad for a "Green Spirit Strikes Again" collector comic, and the 2nd is a reward ad for a lost "Vintage Gold Pocket Watch" with the inscription: Don't lose..Henry. The 1st is a reference to episode 1.8 "Shawn Vs. the Red Phantom," in which Shawn destroys Gus' collector comic book. The 2nd is to 1.6 "Weekend Warriors," in which Shawn's dad buys him a gold watch like he used to own.
Pineapple Spotting: Shawn says the coffee shop has double chocolate mango pineapple scones.
Nitpick: When Shawn and Gus are under the blanket on the couch at the ranger's cabin, right after Shawn says "We've got work to do", he grabs his cup of soup with his left hand, and the handle is on the other side. But, in the next shot when he gets up, he's holding the cup by the handle.
Nitpick: In this episode, it is said that Zoe Sharp was killed 20 years ago. Shawn says she was killed 20 years ago, when Mike was a baby. Captain Connors also says that she was killed in 1986. The poster of Mike, however, states that his age is 26, when he should actually be 20 or 21 if his mother died when he was a baby.
Psych-Out: Shawn and Gus sing lead on the Backstreet Boys' "I Want It That Way", while Juliet struggles to get a note in edgewise.
After the Chief has her baby and says she's returning to work tomorrow, Shawn says she should take some time off and come back in January. After this episode, Psych went on hiatus, with the next episode airing in January.
Gus' Alias: Magic Head
"TriCon" the tri-annual comic book and science fiction convention is a tribute to Comic-Con International held annually at the San Diego Convention Center. Psych regularly has a discussion panel at Comic-Con.
Continuity: When Juliet is first talking to Gus and Shawn at the con, there's a guy with an Afro and a red costume behind her, walking away. When the camera flips back to Gus and Shawn, the same guy is walking past them.
Nitpick: When Shawn takes the final note, "Judgment Day", off the womans' heel, there is a hole in the note. But when it cuts to Shawn's point of view the hole is gone.
Psych-Out: Shawn and Gus sing "I'll Make Love to You", by Boyz II Men.
Trivia: Talia, Malone and Dent, who are all integral characters to the plot of this episode, are all names in the Batman series.
Pineapple Spotting: There is a pineapple-shaped, pink perfume bottle on a nightstand in Robert's attic.
Psych-Out: Shawn jokingly acts in a homosexual way, while Gus just responds with a mixture of anger and amusement.
Pineapple Spotting: Shawn and Gus drink pineapple Snapples while they watch the Civil War reenactment. The bottles have pictures of a pineapple.
Shawn encourages Gus to watch "ESPN. Channel 206. I'm begging you." ESPN actually is channel 206 on DirectTV.
GOOF: In the scene where Shawn and Gus are in the dentist's office with the dentist the clock in the background says 12:51, but when Lassiter walks in the clock reads 12:07.
