  • Two retired detectives are invited to consult on the latest case, and even though they clash with Shawn and Gus, they are actually very similar.

The show is usually great, but I'd have to say not so this week. Bringing in Peters and Boone seemed to ruin the case. I felt bad that Shawn, Gus, and Juliet were feeling kind of down because of them. There was very little humor compared to other episodes. I am so glad that this was a "One time deal" as in Henry's words. Having the guys may have seemed like a good idea on paper, but I don't think it was executed well on screen, and I think this has to have been my least favorite episode for this season.
  • Shawn and Gus investigate the murder of the old SBPD chief, with their matching counterparts who are 40 years their senior.

This was a fantastic episode. Peters and Boone were a great counterpart to Shawn and Gus, and the jokes were great. Not to mention Dule leaping about 10 feet horizontally when he hears a gunshot. This season is great, and I hope it continues in such a manner. There is no reason the reviews for these episodes should be so low, unless people are spamming low ratings. It was great to see the return of Chief Vick, and learn that Henry was not the almighty detective cop that he appeared to be in the early seasons--that he too was human being, kind of like Lassiter, and Peters and Boone were the early Shawn and Gus.
  • A pleasant surprise!

Shawn and Gus meet their future selves while working on a case of a murdered ex-Police Chief. The plot of this episode was cleverly written, with unexpected twists. The banter between Shawn and Gus and the older detectives was hilarious to watch, especially when they kept referring to Shawn as the Palm reader. Finally we get to see some 'classic psych', meaning they reverted back to playing out Shawn's "psychic" episodes more, which is fantastic and definitely needs to stick around. Overall a really good episode with great guest stars...loved the fact that they'd shake hands instead of Shawn and Gus's signature fist bump.

Look, I will watch anything with Carl Weathers (well, other than that awful FOX sitcom Brothers) and this was better than Psych has been as of late, but the show is still not quite what it once was. How many times did Gus say, "That's exactly how we act Shawn!" during this episode?

The actual case was essentially meaningless today as they only really promoted the fact that the old detectives were similar to Shawn and Gus. We get it, but normally a gag like that would be a gag, not the basis for an entire hour of television.

    Good, not great Psych here.

I really didn't what to expect for this episode when I first watch it. However, I came to enjoy this episode a lot actually. I kinda knew it will be a decent plot when the former chief of police was murdered. I was thinking it might be someone from the past trying to get revenge on the former chief.

I definitely like the cameo of Boone and Peters into this episode. I originally thought it was gonna be like Shawn & Gus vs. Boone and Peter. This was the case in the beginning but they decided to work together. Gotta love the "let's choose a fruit for our team" and they decided on grapple. I like this episode because it had elements of the previous seasons of psych. In fact, I thought I saw some elements of Monk also when it was at its prime. I already thought it will already be a good mystery when the former chief was killed. And of course, we will get thrown off when evidence found was indicating that Wilkins could have been a possible drug dealer. Sure you might think a police chief a drug dealer...no freaking way but at that time, it was possible. He did hid a bag of cocaine in his locker and people were searching his house to try to find it. That already made for an interesting plot. When I said that I saw old elements of past psych seasons, I meant that he made more observations in this episode and they helped him with the case a lot. I like how he was able to use the numbers on the lottery ticket to find out which locker Wilkins hid stuff in. When we first saw the observation of Shawn seeing the lottery tickets, we (or at least I) didn't know what to make of it except Wilkins was trying to win money. I definitely like that Shawn has been making more observations unlike some episodes in last couple weeks when he would only observe like 3 things. But ya, enjoyed this episode.
