Is'nt it kind of strange that Mike Fulton allowed the kids to call him by his first name.

Not too strange, I had a couple of teachers over the years that did that. It was more towards high school, though.

Kind of, yeah. I never got to call teachers by their first name.

Not really. Mike was a very "open" sort of guy, and some of the ways he taught were open as well. He wanted the kids to feel like Mike could be a good friend, that if anybody had any problems, at all, they could come to him, which Punky did on several occasions.
I wish I had teachers like that.

Mike Fulton was a kick butt teacher and friend. Everyone should have a teacher like him once in their lives.

When I was in trade school some 30 years ago training to become a data processing technician, my instructors would allow me and my classmates to call them by their first names. We were more like employee and supervisor, and it was a flexible environment
