    Trivia, Notes, Quotes and Allusions

    • TRIVIA (1)

      • When they were talking about Mt Fuji, Stephen refered to it as Mount Fujiyama. He also said the word fuji means mountain. This is incorrect: the Japanese word for mountain is yama. And the correct name for the mountain is either Mt Fuji or Fujiyama, and should never be refered to as Mount Fujiyama, as the word yama denotes that it is a mountain.

    • QUOTES (5)

      • Stephen: Interesting point. I can't furnish you with all the details because I would have to eat myself if I did, but um...

      • Clive: The richest man in the country apart from Roman Abramovich.
Stephen: I never penetrated his intimate circle, but...

      • Stephen: Do you know what cataglottism is?
Alan: When you've got a cat stuck in your throat.

      • Alan: Why is pussy another word for front-bottom?
Stephen: I don't know... it's not my area of expertise... as we've covered before.

      • Stephen: I leave you with this cautionary snippet about paying attention. A radio interviewer from GLR Radio, carried away with news of a possible discovery of a cross between an elephant and a woolly mammoth, asked a paleontologist 'So, it would be like some sort of hairy gorilla, would it?' To which the paleontologist replied, 'Yes, pretty much... except... elephant-shaped and uh... with tusks.'
