  • An evil Leaper and Jimmy. What an Episode.

    9.0
Unfortunately this episode let itself down. For some reason the writers of the show felt a need to introduce the Second Evil Leaping pair. In the Episode the Evil pair say that they have been through hell and make comments to the fact that they know whos responsible for Leaping people around. Could there be someone leaping round Good People and Bad people to balance things out? In this episode we revisit Jimmy DeMatto. The Downs boy who Sam helped way back in Season 2(I think). I did love that episode as i love this. As we see Sam helping Jimmy once again through his trials and tribulations while trying to fit in to the 'normal' world.moreless

Trivia, Notes, Quotes and Allusions

FILTER BY TYPE

  • TRIVIA (2)

    • John D'Aquino (Frank LaMotta), Laura Harrington (Connie LaMotta), Brad Silverman (Jimmy LaMotta / Mirror), and Ryan McWhorter (Corey LaMotta) all reprise their roles from the Season Two episode "Jimmy".

    • Carolyn Seymour, who plays Zoey, was first seen in Quantum Leap as Ms. Stoltz in Season Two's "A Portrait for Troian."

  • QUOTES (1)

  • NOTES (6)

    • Sam's typical "Oh boy!" line is delivered by Frank instead of Sam.

    • Although proposed to be the "polar opposite" of Project Quantum Leap, the Evil Leapers have much in common with Sam and Al's project:

-The Leapers are thrust through time to change history that originally went unchecked (Sam corrects past wrongs, and Alia wrongs past corrections), and in the process of doing so, they inhabit the bodies of other people, using their own knowledge and insight to guide their actions. Both suffer from "swiss-cheesed" minds.

-Both Leapers have an overbearing, wildly dressed, over-sexed Observer (although Alia refers to Zoey as her "Partner"). The Observer uses a strangely colored handlink and passes through a door into an Imaging Chamber, and both are directly in contact with a "Super Computer."

-Both Leapers are stuck in time, desperately trying to get home, completing their "missions" in hope that completion will be the catalyst for return.

    • The Evil leapers allude to the fact that they may know who is leaping them around. They talk about the dirt assignments and how they will be sent back to Hell if they don't complete assignments. This gives us an insight into the potential force behind Sam's leaps.

    • Al states that he has never cared for any of the people that Sam has leaped into like he has cared for Jimmy. Sam alludes to the fact that this is because Al's sister had Down's Syndrome and was sent to an institution.

    • Al reveals in this episode that he does not eat meat because his third wife used to cut his steak for him in restaurants.

    • This episode is regarded by many fans as the moment the show "jumps the shark", with the introduction of the 2nd 'evil' jumper.
