    Trivia, Notes, Quotes and Allusions

    FILTER BY TYPE

    • TRIVIA (4)

      • The pharmacist who is murdered by Det. Ward is named Phil Hartman.

Quite ironically and unfortunately, the actor Phil Hartman, known for his time as a comedian from Saturday Night Live and multiple film and television roles, also died from being shot.

      • The road Sam is driving on is an empty, two-lane mountain pass, but when Al appears next to the car, it suddenly becomes a busy highway.

      • Chloe gave Kyle a Rubik's Cube to play with, which was the latest in a string of 80's fads.

      • If Chloe, the other hairdresser, was the mastermind behind the drug smuggling operation, and was sitting right next to Kyle while Sam was asking him questions about recognizing the killer, why didn't she call Detective Ward and tell him they had nothing to worry about since Kyle couldn't remember what he looked like? They could have gone on with business as usual.

    • QUOTES (3)

      • Sam: Chloe, I need your car.
Chloe: Okay, but only if I can go with you.
        Sam: It's too dangerous.
Chloe: I don't think so. Look, she may be your girlfriend, but she's my ticket to fifty percent off Armani suits.

      • Al: You're not just a hairdresser. You're the hairdresser.
        Sam: Frank Bianca.
Al: Yeah. Well, he changed his name. You can't become the hottest hairstylist in Beverly Hills with a name like Maurice Lipschitz.

      • Chloe: Can you believe someone shot Phil?
        Sam: No.
Chloe: It's gonna make it hell getting prescription refills.
(Sam stares after her in disbelief)

    • NOTES (1)

    • ALLUSIONS (1)

      • In a self-allusion, the skit that Sam and Kyle do towards the beginning of an episode is a reference to an episode of Quantum Leap from the previous season, Future Boy. In a way it makes sense, though. That episode was set in 1957, 26 years earlier than this episode was set. The character Sam was portraying could have been a kid who had watched it himself.
