    Trivia, Notes, Quotes and Allusions

    FILTER BY TYPE

    • TRIVIA (4)

      • When Sam enters the newsroom for the first time, footage of a performance of the band King Thunder (from Season Three's "Glitter Rock") is seen on the TV behind Jani's desk.

      • When Sam is leaving the chemical plant, Al leans forward to ask if Hank is an Army soldier. In the next instant, Al is on the stairs talking to Sam. Not only was the centering sound effect missing, but Al's line, "You're up against it, Sam," nearly overrides his question to Hank.

      • Sam and Al are able to see the site of the Quantum Leap Project seven years before it is built.

      • Dr. Laura's guest role on this show was clearly before she started promoting her 'scientific' view that most gay men want to molest young boys.

    • QUOTES (4)

      • Jani: Why do I suddenly feel like I'm a step behind you? I never used to feel that way.
        Sam: Uh, well, I don't know, I ...
Al: It's annoying, isn't it? That's what you get when you're working with a genius.

      • Jani: Well, what about you?
        Sam: Hmm?
Jani: Why did you get into this business?
Sam: Oh, I just kind of, uh, leaped into it by accident. I sort of like it now. I never really thought much about why, you know. I guess I kind of see myself as a champion of underdogs everywhere.

      • Sam: Oh, uh, this guy claims that he's J.F.K.'s evil twin...
        Earl: Oh!
Sam: ...only he's just escaped from the sanitarium where he's been his whole life.
Earl: Oh, I love it! What else?
Al: Yeah, I'd like to see that one too.

      • Biker: Hey, Roberto! What about the First Amendment?
        Audience Member: Yeah!
Biker: "Congress shall make no act respecting the establishment of religion or prohibiting the free exercise thereof."
Weasel: Hey, that doesn't include animal sacrifices and you know it!

    • NOTES (3)

      • In this episode, we learn that the building where Project Quantum Leap is housed was built in 1989.

      • Just before he leaps out at the end of the episode, Sam says that he (Roberto) will be telling his viewers about "the time (he) was kidnapped by space aliens and kept in a big white room", alluding to the fact that Sam believes that the people he leaps into will remember their time in the Waiting Room when they return to their bodies.

      • Scott Bakula and Victor Talmadge would later appear in the 'Star Trek: Enterprise' episode, 'Judgment' together.

    • ALLUSIONS (2)

      • Roberto was punched in the face during his television talk show, which actually happened to Geraldo during one of his shows.

      • Sam as Roberto opens up a secret door on live television only to find an empty room. This is similar to when Geraldo opened up Al Capone's secret vault on live television, which was also empty.
