Look carefully on the storage shelves in the mobile home and you will see a white domed case with blue and orange stripes. It is the Barbie Friend Ship, a fold-out case that on the inside looks like the interior of an airplane. It was sold in 1973, so a little girl in 1974 possibly could have owned it.
Al: Uh oh, Sam, I think I killed it.
Al: Take pity on me, Sam. I haven't been myself lately. Tina's been away for a couple of weeks visiting her mother and... I do have my needs, you know!
Sam: God forbid you should have two weeks downtime.
Judging by a few factors within the episode, it appears "The Great Spontini" appears out of order during its air date and subsequent DVD release order.
1. Based on the opening credit sequence at the end of Season 2, screen shots and clips from this episode appear, implying it was filmed to fill as an early episode, possibly as one of the first in this season.
2. In this episode, Al breaks his handlink by hitting it too much when it refuses to work by failing to supply Sam with information. He later has a new multi-colored handlink, which first appears in the episode "The Boogieman" without explanation.
It would seem "The Great Spontini", chronologically, would take place between "One Strobe Over the Line" and "The Boogieman".
