I've heard the rave about this show, but I've never watched it. I was thinking about renting the DVD's and give it a go. Do you think it's possible that, as a 100% straight guy, I could really enjoy this show? Thanks

Well I am a 100% straight girl and I enjoy it. As long as you have no problem with nudity and sex on screen (between two men, between two women) then yes I think you can enjoy it.

Well, it depends on your tastes. You have to know upfront that the focus of the show is on the gay lifestyle, and is very frank about sexuality. There is a lot of nudity and sexual situations, including simulated sex between men. I would compare it to a gay male version of "Sex and the City," although the show runs longer and includes dramatic storylines as well as comedic ones. If that doesn't turn you off and still interests you, then you might enjoy it from as entertainment.

Instead of renting the DVDs, first try watching the reruns on LOGO (cable channel), if you get it. Because it's basic cable, they've edited a lot of the nudity and profanity but you still get the basic story.

Most definitely you will enjoy the show if you are not hung-up on the straight-gay thing. I am straight woman and I loved the show when I first saw it on cable. It it shame that I missed the last season because I had to move at the time. I am now catching up with it on Logo. If you can, watch the re-runs on Logo. In the end, once we get past the sexual part, the show really points out that we are all human.

I've only watched until the 3rd episode on the US version, but I've watched all the episodes + extras from the UK version, but as far as I can tell it's a lesser version of the UK, with about the same amount of nudity & passion.

As long as you aren't one of those guys who "have to turn away" when you see two guys kissing or you could "never kiss a male friend, not even for 100$", you shouldn't have any problems enjoying it.

My tip however, is watch the UK version first. It's just better, and it doesn't have very brittish accent or so (like The Office UK does) compared to the US version.

I'm not sure where you're from but the UK version of QAF is very heavy on the accent. I watched both series and had a hard time understanding what was being said. Plus, the DVDs don't come with closed captions. My tip, as stated above, is to watch the LOGO edited version of the American QAF (without nudity and foul language). Kind of like, QAF for beginners.

Oh yea I can back this up, the accents are really thick in the UK version. Or if you're from the US and you're not used to hearing british accents on a semi-regular basis then they sould really, really thick.

i can see that it could be difficult for a straight man to watch the show, but you'd have to give it a try and see for yourself. i'm a gay woman and couldn't get into it the first time i started watching it, but i have evolved and now i love the show!

right. i'm a 100% lesbian and i still like the show because i love the storylines. it's beautfilly acted and wonderfully written. it took me a while to be able to watch it at first, but i came around to it. it does depend on your taste though. i have a gay male friend who teases me by telling me i'm watching gay porn.

I remember when I first began watching I wasn't accustomed to seeing so much sex and nudity, no other show I had ever watched had as much as QAF does and I will admit it took me a little while to get totally comfortable with it (partly because I was 17 at the time) but it's not as though the nudity is unnecessary or even overly graphic. It's honest, important and a big part of the show.

Thanks for all of your comments. I will have some time soon and have decided that I will start watching (via dvd rentals). I've only seen the first show of season 1 and I enjoyed it. I think the story won't take long to become quite interesting. The nudity and gay sex I don't feel will really bother me too much.
