Brian's turning 30. It seems as if life as he knows it is over. He is forced to face reality as his friends throw him a "deathday party", reminding him that going out in the "blaze of glory" might not sound like such a bad idea. After initially turning down Justin's request to accompany him to prom, a last minute talk with Michael changes his mind. Finally finding the soft spot in his heart, which we all know he has, he surprises Justin at the dance. The happiest and most romantic moment of the series thus far, quickly turns into a horrific nightmare as Justin gets bashed in the head by Chris Hobbes. Brian's emotional reaction to it in the fianl scenes, clearly illustrates his love for Justin, whether he's afraid to admit it or not. Another outstanding performance by Gale Harold will have you in tears by the end of the episode.moreless

  • Hits close to home

This episode is one of the most powerful episodes of a show that was groundbreaking in and of itself.
When Brian and Justin dance at the prom, it's not only a stand up and chear moment, but the dance itself was amazing!! And the kiss that ends the dance is hot!

But when the a**hole football player cracks Justin in the head with a baseball bat in the parking garage afterwards, it's the worst ending to the perfect prom scene!
As somebody who's been cracked in the head with a blunt object for being gay it hit very close to home for me, but I think it showed a lot of people the trauma the GBLT community faces everyday.moreless

This episode is definitely one of the best episodes of the series. It was also a very touching episode, and it's a very sad episode to watch. Although, this episode is one of the more romantic episodes for Brian and Justin's relationship. You can really see that Brian definitely loves Justin by watching this episode. I also really enjoyed Ted's storyline in this episode. I felt that the whole cast did a great job in this episode. I do wish that they wouldn't have had Chris Hobbs attack on Justin in the last few minutes of the episode. I really wish that we could have seen more of Brian's reaction to Justin's attack. All in all, this was a great episode, and it will definitely go down in Queer As Folk history as being one of the best episodes of the series.moreless

    • This episode influenced a real life situation in which a gay teen wanted to bring his boyfriend to his prom, but the school would not allow homosexual activity to happen at the prom. As a result, the students were going to give him and his boyfriend their own prom, and many students were gonna go to his instead of the real thing, but that changed when the courts overruled the school's decision and he was allowed to bring his boyfriend to the prom.
