Justin's mother sadly informs him that his father has decided not to pay for his school anymore. Brian offers to pay for Justin's school, but he refuses to take any more help from Brian saying he already owes him his life. Justin applies for a job dancing at Babylon. He finds that the tips are not quite as good as he was hoping for. The owner of Babylon tells him he might be able to work his way up in six months to dancing on the bar, or Justin could move right up by performing certain favors for him. Justin decides to put out in order to get the job. Brian is upset when Justin returns home, he knows.

Ted is trying to throw a benefit for Angels Over Pittsburgh a charity that cooks meals for people with AIDS. The drag queen Devina Devor they want to run the benefit refuses initially to sign on, but after Vic realizes he went to school with him. Soon after Michael learns that Debbie dated him in High School. Michael begins to suspect something after he recognizes Danny Devor (the drag queen). Tempers flair when Michael realizes he looks exactly like Danny.

Gus is rejected from an upscale pre-school. Melanie believes its because they're discriminating against her and Lindsay for being lesbians. Brian agrees to pose as Lindsay's husband in order to try again. The rouse seems to go well, until Lindsay gets a call telling her that the last spot in the school was given to a student with same sex parents, pretty much throwing her theory out the window.

Deb goes to see Danny who expresses a great deal of upset at learning he has a son and never knew. Michael meets his real father, for the first time. Danny initially denies he is his father, and then changes his story to suggest that his father is anything he believes he is. Michael returns home and Deb and him share a tender moment of reconciliation as Michael announces his father was John Michael Novotony, KIA in Vietnam, just as he had always been told.

    Jenn informs Justin that his father is no longer going to pay for his college. The excuse was that he has too much to pay for with supporting two families now, and his stocks and everything aren't doing so well, when he really means that he's disowning Justin and this is just another stick to throw in the spokes of Justin's life. Brian offers to help Justin financially, but an eager Justin wants to support himself and sets out to find a job that pays more than the diner. He winds up asking for a dancing job at Babylon. When he seems to not be making much money he is informed that he needs to work his way up and work at the bar for more tips, which can take around six months. His boss then propositions him for sexual favors in return for a gig working the bar a lot sooner. Justin doesn't want to and turns it down at first, but feeling he is backed into a corner he gives in anyway, letting his pride get the better of him because he doesn't want Brian to feel like he has to support Justin; and Justin doesn't want to feel that way either. Brian knows what Justin did but doesn't push the issue too much, though you can tell that Justin feels like garbage over it. In the meantime Mel and Linze try to enroll Gus into a school. Not hiding their sexuality they get turned down, which leads Linze to ask Brian to marry her! He says no way but i'm not sure if they did or not. They apply to another school and the Kinney's, a heterosexual couple, only to be turned down again because the spot was granted to a child with same sex parents! Linze found the whole thing funny and decided to apply to another school without hiding her relationship with Mel, Gus's real parents. On the other hand Ted is trying to raise money for a charity event for Angels Over Pittsburgh, a program that helps deliver meals and such to AIDS patients while they are sick. Divina, a seemingly selfish person at first turns them down. However, when she finds out that Vic is Mike's uncle and Deb is his mother, he agrees to do the benefit, which turned out to be pretty good. Curious after he finds a picture in Deb's year book of Divina that looks just like him, Mike starts asking questions about his real father and puts two and two together. He realizes that the soldier father he never knew wasn't actually his real father because Divina was. We find out that Deb actually picked this man's name out of a list of dead soldiers in the newspaper years ago and even legally changed her name to keep the secret hidden about Divina. Mike confronts him and it is pretty much implied but left an open-ended question. Divina tells Mike that Deb hand given him something to believe in and be proud of. Deb later tells him basically that since he knows the truth there's no sense and keeping all the pictures and things around of his fake father. Mike decides to give her back something to believe in and be proud of, so he tells her to leave it up and that his father was who she said he was. I wonder what the next episode will bring.moreless

  • Michael's half Italian and half drag queen!

    Divina Devor, Pittsburg's very own drag queen is back in town. But when Michael tells his mother about a benefit that Devina will be performing at, she acts very suspiciously. She admits to knowing him, and later everyone finds out that her and Devina used to date back when he was a man. After lookiing in an old yearbook, Devina's picture looks strangely a lot like Michael. He puts two and two together, realizing that his father is a drag queen and not some soldier that died in combat, which Debbie always told him. Anyway, Justin needs help paying for college since his father bowed out. But he won't set aside his pride to let Brian help him. Brian of course would do anything for Justin and everyone knows that. But Justin insists that he will get his own job and pay for it himself. He starts working as a go-go dancer at Babylon, but puts out later in order to move up the ladder. Brian is upset even though he was about to sleep with a client of his own in season one, just to get the account claiming it was only business.moreless

    Brian is clearly troubled throughout this episode. He sees Justin having money issues, and offers to help pay for his tuition, but Justin refuses. Not only does Brian find Justin being a go-go boy humiliating, but he also becomes jealous and pained by what Justin is doing. This is evident on several occasions: One, in Babylon where Justin is dancing in his underwear in the background and Brian stealing glances at Justin, looking absolutely miserable. He can't even hide his angst from Emmett, who watches Brian intently. And two, when Justin returns home after selling his body to the creepy Sap for a promotion. Brian can't stand not being able to help his Sunshine. Though Brian might say that he only helps people to help himself, it's obvious that that way of thinking doesn't apply to Justin. He doesn't fool anyone. I love the way Brian always waits up for Justin to get home. Brian adores Justin. He protects him, he cares for him, but most of all, he loves him.

    I also found the scene between Lindsay and Brian at the school entertaining. Lindsay asks Brian if he ever had the thought that he and she would ever end up together, and he flat out says 'no'. I always had the feeling--from the very first episode of season one--that if Brian ever expressed a romantic interest in Lindsay, Lindsay would drop Melanie in a heartbeat. But thank goodness Brian finally put Lindsay's fantasy to rest. Her feelings for Brian, like Michael's feelings for Brian, always seemed more than just platonic. Both may be in love with him, but the only person Brian has ever been in love with and will ever be in love with is Justin.moreless

    Devina Devor, not exactly a name we had heard before but I think many of us fans of the show will remember this name for as long a time as Michael. A pretty killer drag queen, a pretty decent singer, and the father of Michael Novotony. Turns out Mikey's got a dad after all.

    Unfortunately, Justin's dad is the source of some problems in this episode as well. Another run down the seedy underbelly of life for young Sunshine behoves him to consider more help from Brian, though he has reservations at first.

    Brian's somewhat diminished role as father is into play as well, as he poses as Lindsey's hubby to get Gus into a great school. As it turns out though, the end didn't justify the means in this case.moreless
