Episode Summary

EDIT
Uncle Ben
AIRED:

Stockwell's crackdown on Liberty Avenue's sex-related businesses continues with the closing of all bathhouses and the back room at Babylon. Justin responds by defacing Stockwell campaign posters, painting a Hitler moustache on the mayoral candidate's face and adding the slogan "Heil to the Chief." As Justin prepares his own poster with Stockwell sporting a clown nose and labeled "Laughing Stock," Brian tells him to stop, but Justin refuses. Later Brian capitulates and helps Justin paste the posters up on Liberty Avenue.

Ben receives a call from Allegheny General Hospital regarding Hunter, the teenage hustler whom Ben previously tried to help and who has named Ben as his legal guardian on the hospital's admissions form. Hunter had been admitted for a kidney infection, but tests reveal that he also has HIV. Having ordered Ben to avoid further involvement with the youth, Michael softens his hard-line stance with the revelation of Hunter's HIV status.

Exhausted from work, Melanie collapses and is taken to the hospital by Michael, who has been keeping a watchful eye on her wherever she goes. Although Melanie is fine, the incident scares her into making her pregnancy her highest priority. And Ted takes a dangerous detour on his way to a weekend getaway at a country inn and instead rents a room at the sleazy Paradise Motel, where he snorts cocaine and participates in an orgy.

  • Vigilante

    9.0
Brian and Justin get more involved in Stockwell's campaign while Ben and Michael struggle to help Hunter from the streets. Melanie comes to terms with how she can't do everything even though she wants to, and Ted spirals deeper and deeper into a depressive state. Curious to see where all of these things will lead to, especially Stockwell's storyline. Good episode.
  • Justin acts as a vigilante to rebel against Jim Stockwell. Hunter winds up in the hospital. Jim's crusades are going too far when all the places where homosexuals have sex and hang out are being closed down. Ted lies to Emmett.moreless

The episode starts out with Justin wanting to do it someplace different with Brian. They quickly discover that all the places that gays hang out and tend to have sex have been shut down or closed thanks to Jim Stockwell and his crusade to clean up the city. Justin remembers what Brian had told him about being the best homosexual he can be and decides to speak out. He creates and puts up posters of Jim that portray him as Hitler which i thought was awesome and funny. When Jim tells Brian how angry he is, Brian tells him to laugh it off in public, which is what Jim does. This seems to boost Jim's appearance and he gets a call from the gay and lesbian center, who want to endorse him! Brian finds out that it's Justin making the posters when he catches him using the copy machine late at night. He tells Justin that he doesn't care about Jim but to knock it off because this is messing with Brian's business. However, Justin takes off to put up new posters anyway the next night. When Brian discovers that the back room at Babylon was closed, he is infuriated like i knew he would be. He catches Justin putting up the new posters and stops him, but gives him a kiss. Then he helps Justin put the posters up, right on Brian! In the meantime Hunter, the kid Ben has taken under his wing winds up in the hospital with a kidney infection after he was passed out on the street for an hour before someone got him help. He named Ben as his next of kin and Ben gets a call from the hospital. Mike is angry and tells Ben to get out of this while he can. He's even more angry to learn that Ben agreed to let Hunter tell the hospital that he is Hunter's uncle, because Hunter doesn't want to go into the system. Mike pleads with Ben to tell the hospital the truth after he learns that Ben is going to be billed a couple thousand dollars for Hunter's stay for a kidney infection. Ben goes to tell them the truth but learns some devastating news; Hunter is positive. Oh my god, i wonder how many people Hunter has slept with and doesn't even know he's positive, that is really bad. Now Ben struggles with the fact that he has to tell Hunter, because he doesn't yet know. Ben doesn't want to destroy Hunter's immortality, especially since he is so young. It's not surprising this happened though, considering Hunter's prostitution. I wonder if Ben will tell him. Meanwhile, Mike stalks Mel because he thinks she's overexerting herself and is worried about the baby. Mel is angry when she finds out that Mike has been following her, after he scares her in a parking lot at the store at night. She puts an end to that, or so she thought. Mike still follows her and she winds up having pain. She lands in the hospital where she was spotting and cramping. She later apologizes to Linze after Linze continues to harp on her, and i think she might now back off the case a bit. The baby is fine. Ted freaks out on the secretary at the gym because his account had insufficient funds and his membership has been revoked. Ted is furious because he's been a member there for eight years. Ted leaves. Emmett wants to take Ted to the country but winds up having to meet with a woman for a party the day he is supposed to go. He tells Ted to go alone. Ted doesn't feel comfortable with Emmett paying for it. He gets an email about some Paradise motel. Emmett gives Ted money and Ted goes to the country, but stops at this motel anyway. It is basically a big orgy between gay men. Ted meets a guy named Mark who invites Ted for some coke and to join the fun. Ted turns him down but later decides to stop by. He does the drugs and winds up in the orgy, and lies to Emmett about where he is. Ted comes home and is hungry and crashing, but still lies to Emmett. What an idiot. I get annoyed with Ted often, but this really bugged me. Does Ted think he can get a free pass to cheat on Emmett because Emmett did it once? He doesn't even know if these guys were positive or anything, what if he gives something to Emmett? I wonder if or when Emmett will find out. I don't think that's going to go well for their relationship. This episode has kept me hanging right on for more. I can't wait to see the next one.moreless
  • This series continues to go there.

Justin is determined to damage Stockwell's campaigne by making propaganda posters. Brian realizes what he's up to and tells him to stop, but later, Brian joins along beside him to hang them up. Stockwell closes the bath houses and the backroom at Babylon in attempt to clean up Liberty Ave. Ted goes on vacation by himself, but makes a detour to Paradise Motel, where there's an orgy and lots of drugs. Ted is charging down the wrong road and changes for the worse by the day. Emmett tries to help and support him, but can't figure out what the problem is. Emmett is another character that I absolutley love. He is deffinately the nicest character on the show, and continues to stand by Ted through thick and thin, not to mention in the upcoming episodes.moreless
  • Liberty Ave. shut down

    8.0
Stockwell pretty much shuts down all of Liberty Ave., more of less. Now, illegal activities aside he had no right to do such things. And no one takes it sitting down, not even Brian, though it takes Sunshine to get him to stand up. Justin decides to start a little art project in a sort of protest against Stockwell. He pretty much covers all of Liverty Ave., more or less with his brilliant posters. At first Brian is opposed, naturally. He is after all on Stockwell's business team so it is understandable, though it is not understandable why he is on his team. But in the end he lends a hand or two, very excellent of Mr. Kinney.

Unfortunately, though Ben and Michael do a lot help this teenage hustler in so many ways, it turns out that Hunter has a lot worse to contend with then his choice of career. Ben knows it best of all, they are both positive. Hunter already has such a bad life and add to that the threat of a severe illness and at such a young age, too. What could Ben and Michael do but help him all they could. I couldn't imagine them doing any less, they are both good and genuine people with big hearts.moreless
