    Trivia, Notes, Quotes and Allusions

    • TRIVIA (1)

      • During one of the flashbacks to the causes of Young Jimmy's bowel issues, the Chance family reference the 1992 Los Angeles Riots and Young Jimmy uses Rodney King's famous line Can we all get along? King made his widely televised plea to the public as the rioting continued to escalate. The phrase used as a call for peace in this way has become a part of American pop culture.

    • QUOTES (3)

    • NOTES (1)

    • ALLUSIONS (1)

      • During the flashback of things that Virginia was wrong about, she says that the "cute little black boy on TV" stopped acting because he got rich from writing a dictionary.

This is a reference to the show Webster which stars a character named Webster, played by Emmanuel Lewis, mixed up with a reference to the Merriam-Webster dictionary written by Noah Webster—who is obviously completely unrelated to the television character.
