Raising Hope

Virginia and Burt encourage Jimmy to make up a girlfriend in order to make Sabrina jealous in order to shake up her relationship with Wyatt. While attending a class with Barney, Jimmy meets Mary-Louise who then agrees to play along with his plot until the entire thing starts blowing up in Jimmy's face.

Burt hires Barney as his business manager during tax season, and the stress of the job causes Burt to make an unwanted comment on Virginia's career, prompting Virginia to find a new business venture as a tarot card reader. Meanwhile, Jimmy stresses as Sabrina contemplates moving to Africa with Wyatt.

Burt starts gambling again, keen on reclaiming the property he lost betting almost 20 years ago. Virginia and Jimmy try to intervene, but end up getting swept up in the magic of gambling, prompting their friends to stop the family from losing everything.

After realizing that his daughter might be a baby genius, Jimmy decides to go back to school for a G.E.D. exam, but his effort is thwarted by a school teacher keen on making Jimmy's life harder. Meanwhile, afraid that they'll be the dumbest ones in the family, Virginia and Burt both decide to take the G.E.D. exam as well, but run into several difficulties.

Virginia wants the entire family to submit their inventions during the National Invention Convention Extravaganza to win a lot of money, but when everyone separates into groups with their own inventions, the competition gets fierce.

In order to impress Burt's wealthy parents, the Chance family borrows a house and pretends they're living a lavish lifestyle - that is, until the real owners return prematurely, and Burt's parents finally learn exactly what the life of a Chance family is all about.

The Chances are forced to camp out on the front lawn while their house is being tented for termites, but the sudden change of living arrangements is the least of their worries when they find out that Hope hit a boy at the day care, worrying everyone that she might just be following in the footsteps of her mother.

The Chance family goes to Las Vegas to attend the wedding of their cousin Delilah, prompting jealousy in Virginia because she never had a big wedding like that. Meanwhile, Jimmy thinks he finally has a chance with Sabrina when she decides to go wild in Nevada.

When Burt reveals Sabrina's secret to the Chance family, she is forced to introduce her father Cap to them, and Jimmy decides to use this info to introduce Hope to a rich lifestyle, causing Sabrina to reveal her insecurities.

While watching an old family video, Jimmy realizes that he had a great music talent until an accident that made him talentless, so he decides to find a way to regain his abilities.
