  • Surprising episode.

    8.1
After Kuno and Ranma fell into the pool, Ranma tried running away from the kendo master to try and hide his secret of being a half girl. Though that was inevitable, and moments later, after Akane tried offering the hot water to Ranma, Kuno appeared, in which she challenged him in order to buy some time for Ranma. Though Kuno found Ranma, and challenged him, or her. He easily lost. That night, Ranma was thinking about Akane, whether or not he should thank her for giving him the hot water. The next morning, Kuno gave Nabiki a letter to the girl Ranma, since she told him he knew her. It seemed to be a letter of challenge, but when Ranma arrived at the place, he really stopped by to give her some flowers, leaving with him, or her, the words that he loved him, or her.

Sometimes I hate it when episode titles trick you into thinking something else, and then it's really something else. The title "a sudden storm of love", would make you believe that Ranma or Akane, suddenly grew feelings for each other. In fact, it did a good job of leading you on that way. Ranma, that night after the fight with Kuno, was actually thinking of Akane, and even attempted to talk witih her on the way to school. But then, the title was really being directed towards Kuno's love for the girl side of Ranma. I don't really hate it, as in pure evil hatred; the kind of funny hate when you flirt with a girl. It's just those episodes that trick you.

Outside of that, I thought this was a pretty good episode. Like mentioned before, Ranma's feelings for Akane didn't change much, but it made some progressment. The insulting really wasn't much, and I've always loved it when characters develop and change. Which makes me wonder about Inuyasha, since that anime has hardly changed, and it's Rumiko Takahashi's most recent work. Plus, this episode had its funny moments. After Ranma threw some cold water at his father, he was forced to take the public bath because all the water stations at the house were broken. When he comes back, Ranma causes another incident that causes him to pour cold water at him. I have high hopes for Ranma 1/2 in its comedy department. Comedy animes with tons of material to work with, are usually the funniest. In this case, Ranma 1/2 has Ranma and his father's hidden problem. I can onl expect funnier moments like this in the future.moreless
