Good plot; moves quickly. Fine western theme not explored often enough. The townspeople are naturally wary, and refuse to allow anyone who goes out to treat Rowdy back in. The nurse bolts anyway to help Rowdy, but the pharmacist is detained---the townfolk don't want to lose the closest they have to an MD. The nurse returns to her home anyway, despite the town's warnings, and her father's house becomes under siege. This is the only time the townsfolk become "villainous"--otherwise, they react as most normal people would in the face of an epidemic with no cure. In the end, the pharmacist deduces that Rowdy has cowpox, and laughs and backslapping are enjoyed by all.
