Hunted at night by images of his father taking over his life, this episode finds Ray (Liev Shreiber - the coolest actor in Hollywood) orchestrating a Boston/LAPD activity to capture Mick (the fabulous John Voight) for the murder of the pedophile priest's brother, all the while being forced by Abby (Paula Malcomson) to attend an open day at Bel Air college, where his children are intended to enroll.
At the same time, Mick goes to visit Claudette, his pre-jail mistress and mother of his bastard son Daryll (Pooch Hall), bringing him along, as well as his sexually-anorexic son Bunchy (Dash Mihok).
In another backstory, Ray's older brother Terry (Eddie Marsan, doing some excellent acting) is working up to take his physiotherapist Frances (Brooke Smith) to a romantic dinner.
Ray Donovan brings back fond memories from the Sopranos, bringing together a mix of clever dialogs, round and deep characters, intelligent humor, and believable storyline.
It's unlike anything else out right now, and the talent on this show is just amazing.
If you were not convinced that Ray Donovan was a must-watch show, watch this episode and it'll change your mind.
