I just binged all 3 seasons of Ray Donovan. And you know what? It's one of the best things I've watched in years.
After reading several reviews I have come to one conclusion: Yes, the show has it's flaws. It can be very blunt and violent, very on the nose and sometimes predictable with its plot developments.
That can never be said about its characters - they and the psychology behind them are spell binding. Liev Schreiber especially deserves every award there is.
As much as there is bluntness, there is even more subtlety. It is superbly acted. What the dialogue sometimes lacks in finesse, the acting makes more than up for.
